24F Compatible with FCP 5.0.4?

Is that the newest version before Final Cut Pro Studio 2?

I think it is, and I think it's what I have at home. I don't know if I've ever used it for SD, but I've captured 24F HD.

I'll be bold and say it'll work.

24f in SD is downconverted into either a 2:3 or 2:3:3:2 pulldown stream, just like a DVX. So if you can edit DVX 24p footage in FCP (I don't use FCP, so I'm assuming you can), you're fine with XH-A1 24F SD.

EDIT:
And actually, if you're shooting SD, you don't have to use the A1 as a deck, I don't think. Any MiniDV deck should work (I'm assuming).

I can confirm that it does indeed capture the A1's 60i and 24F footage in SD. Not only that, but you're right that as long as it's SD you can use a deck instead of using the A1 itself. I did so tonight with an AG-DV2000. Pretty cool.

Good to know (SD deck part.)

Off topic, I had my Xbox 360 connected to a plasma yesterday, and being bored, I was going through my movies folder playing with the network functionality to my Mac. I don't have many videos, most being sample footage from here. That said, I watched the Reservist teaser on a 42'' plasma, and it looked good.

The 720p Beat Box video was perfect on it. Probably compressed a lot different.

I've done the same thing with my roommate's 360 and his 42" samsung, and I have to agree. The results make me feel warm and fuzzy. I love watching our footage on that thing. You'll have to tell me how to get videos from a Mac on there, as we can't get his to show up on the 360, and I use a PC.

What format do you render your files to? With a PC, it only lets me watch WMVs, and I think those are ass.

Well, the only ones I can watch from my movies folder (that I rendered) are H.264, AAC MPEG-4 .m4v files.

I have a movie that doesn't work that is H.264, Integer (Big Endian) mov file.

And yours, AAC, H.264 .mov files apparently works.

I don't really work with it. It was just a bored thing. My 360 is usually on my computer monitor with a vga cable.

I thought I tried to watch MOV's (including our trailer) on there before, but they didn't show up on the screen. I just read that H.264 is supported as of the Spring 2007 update. We run his 360 into the Samsung via HDMI. Can you try another video of ours and see if it works for you?

Right on, man. Thanks for giving it a go. I'm about to trade in my PC/Vegas 7 workflow for a Powerbook/FCP 6 kind of deal, so I'm pretty sure our footage will be AAC/H.264 soon.

Where can I see some examples of your stuff by the way?
