C300: 24-105 looses brightness all the way through the zoom

The 24-70 & 24-105 are zoom-throughs, f/2.8 & f/4 respectively. In all my years on a 5D I may have only noticed a slight reduction in brightness/vignetting at the end of the zoom (of course the FF may account for that)

On the C300 I was blown away with how bad these lenses go dark, not only at the end of the lens but all the wide through the zoom from wide to telephoto. It was to the point where I do not want to buy a C300 or investing in any EF L glass. I DID turn on peripheral correction but it seemed to have no effect. The camera DID read my lens.

My question is, do others have this issue at all? I have no idea why it would be exasperated with a C300 when I hardly notice it on a DSLR. Do people just open up as they zoom?

These still photo zoom lenses have constant f-stops, but not constant t-stops. I guarantee your 5D suffers from the same issue with the lens. The 24-105 loses about 2/3 of a stop from wide to full telephoto. To counteract, you can open up the zoom or ride the iris.

There you have it, and thanks so much for the reply. I actually could not find anything here but figured it had to of been asked before.

Just very surprised I never noticed it on my 5Ds. Maybe on the FF I didn't noticed the center as much.
