UPDATE - Storyboard / Set / Shoot

UPDATE - Storyboard / Set / Shoot

Update - 12/21/06

Rough edit of the storyboards completed
I just got done with the first edit of the story boards and the audio from the table read. I'll be makign some fine tuning to the edit, and then I'll be planning out the shot list accordingly. It has been very hepful having the boards to edit from, and FF3D to help figure out camera placement!

Futher work on the set
Making adjustments, and finding props to fill out the set- still have a little bit of painting to do, and then the set will be ready!

Shoot scheduled for tomorrow morning
Jerry (the 1st AC) and I will be going out tomorrow morning to shoot some scenery shots for a montage sequence in the film. Should be fun! (But I know it will be cold.) I'm looking forward to playing with the M2.

So we went out and shot MOS exterior stuff today. Had a good time with the HVX and M2, and it wasn't too cold. Also got to see the set. It's really coming along nicely, and will look fantastic when it's complete. Here are some pics from this morning:

First shot of the day.

...not the first shot

I love the HVX! And the M2, for that matter...

One of the shots was a little bland, so I stuck a tree branch in the ground to manufacture a little foreground action.

Framing an upside down image can be... interesting.

Remember this location....

I'm very excited about the way things are coming together. The locations are fantastic, the HVX is rockin', and we have a good story. Ryan's doing a great job of putting this whole thing together. I can't wait for January!

Make sure you cover the gaps in the back of that matte box with black wrap or duvetyne, don't want relections or flares on the filters!

Will Do! (Nice catch BTW)

I added the Matte box for that shot just for the extra "sex appeal" as your are correct- I did not have an adapter to go form the lens to the matte box. :)

Looking good! Can't wait to start shooting next Saturday!

Cripes! That seems so quick ... just around the corner! I still have to get my clothes for it ... maybe even consider getting cleaned up a little. :bath:

LOL! Yep it is coming quick!

Today I'm working on the shooting script, and nailing down the shot list / schedule. Then I'll be sending out the schedule to everyone with crew & cast call times. It is exciting seeing all of this coming together!

It's nice that Ryan's so open with the script/characters. Rebecca & I came up with some dialogue for a portion of the script we were trying to work on/figure out for our characters ... just ran it past Ryan, and he loved it. Makes it nice to work with someone who's open to allowing the talent to do what's best going to bring out their characters.

I, on the other hand, am a complete ass as a director, and it's my way or the highway.

Lots O' Updates! Check them out ....

Lots O' Updates! Check them out ....

I've been franticly geeting everything together as we near our shoot day- which is why i have not been on the boards much. So I have lots to share with everyone. checkout the first pasge to see pictures of the completed set, as well as camera tests!

Completed Set - Camera Tests - Production Packet
Yesterday was spent putting the final touches on the set in prep for saturdays shoot. I also preformed various camera tests, as I nail down the final look thatI was in camera for the various scenes. And I got the production packet out to the cast and crew detaileding the locations, call times, directions, schedules, as well as the shot list & shooting script. Whew- feels good to have that done!

Crew Secured
Evin Carr will be a PA on set! I'm happy to have him there to see his handy work in action!

Crew Un-Secured
My audio guy dropped out do to some other commitments - arghhh - last minute flakiness is frustrating. Now I'm scrambling ...

Principle Photography
I'll be shooting a short scene with Norm and Rebecca tomorrow, as well as going over blocking with them tomorrow evening. We have one day of principle photography - this saturday- Jan. 6th- I'm excited, and looking forward to it!

Those are some hella BTS shots there. Quite a setup you got, with the adaptor and the dolly, etc.

That is really cool,
Jason

We (Ryan and I) went out and shot a few inserts for a flashback with Norm and Rebecca today. They'd come up with some dialogue to add to the scene, so I was there in the capacity of boom op. Here are some pics:

"How can we fake this and make it look convincing?"

It was fairly wet, and the trees developed the lovely habit of dripping down ones neck.

Norm got to the martini shot a bit early...

Saturday should be a blast. Can't wait to shoot this thing! Check back Saturday night for more incriminating goodness.
