2008-2009 NFL Thread

I think the whole NFC South is playing much better than expected. A far cry from last year. when we were one of the worst divisions (maybe the worst?).

We gave the game to the Colts last night by taking that stupid personnel foul in the fourth quarter. I hate losing to the Colts, but this year the rivalary didn't seem the same without Manning Vs Brady.

Good to see both the Colts and Pacers put it to Boston in the same week. The football game was a bit of a snooze compared to our usual games with the Pats, but I'll take a win over them any day. Viniteri kicking the winning goal was a nice touch. I also take great pleasure in knowing that Belicheat lost the game for them with his time out and his challenge and then non-challenge on the 2 point conversion.

Hot Damn! Denver wins two road games in a row...with a patchwork defense...a bunch of rookies and 1 rookie in particular playing on both sides of the ball. If we can continue to minimize our turnovers....playoffs here we come!

2 games ahead of the Chargers...hopefully they will lose to the Colts...

Great game against the Falcons! Sorry Uga but we needed this...

Hopefully... I dislike Favre a lot....

I as well.

It's not even so much I dislike him as a person, more of all the attention he draws both by the media and to himself and I think he's very overated. Good quarterback? Yes. Hall of Famer? Yes. Best to ever play? Not even close.

Personally, I love him. I think he's a great QB and Green Bay was lucky to have him for all those years. I do think he is one of the best ever to play that position. If you consider his consistency, productivity, Super Bowl ring, 2 Super Bowl visits, 3 league MVP awards ( no one has ever done that), his numerous records, etc. etc. etc. Yeah, you can make a case for him being one of the best.

Having said that, I hate playing him and not because I think he is a good QB. It's because of what you said, JConners...playing Favre always involves a media circus. I hate that. Just play the game. Stop talking about Brett Farve and call the game. Last year, Denver played the Packers on a Monday Night. It was a joke. It was Brett this, Brett that. They hardly even mentioned the game. Then, during half time, his wife Deanna was selling some book. I mean :furious3: . I am hoping and praying the Denver game doesn't go national and instead is called by the local or "B" Broadcast crew.

I just want to watch the game.

Yeah, I hear you on the media circus, earlier in the year against the Chargers the Monday Night Crew wouldn't shut up. "Growing up Phillip Rivers had a poster on his wall.....guesss who it was? That's right it was Brett Favre." "One thing you can say about Brett Favre, he's out there having fun." "Brett Favre has a passion to play this game." "Brett Favre always saves his best for Monday Night." and on and on and on. It's sickening to listen too.

I dunno, the past couple of years, the Brett Favre farwell tour after every season pissed me off. He wasn't sure what he wanted to do, for 3 years the Packers gave him the time to decide if he wanted to play. Finally last offseason they ask him for a date to decide by so if he doesn't play they can move on and make the proper moves. He retires. Then like 3 months later says he wants to come back and throws Green Bay under the bus and made a huge media circus out of it, did interviews with ESPN and some of the major networks and pretty much relayed every meeting he had with Packers management to force their hands. And then has the gall to say he will only accept a trade within their division. That to me is being pretty damn disrespectful to an organization that did nothing but treat him like royalty his entire time with them.

Yes, Favre has one Superbowl and 3 MVP's. He also has 300 career INT's.

Not many people remember some of those playoff games where he threw all those INT's. In one game against Minnesota I believe, he threw 6 INT's and 5 in the first half. Besides from last year (where he actually decided to do some offseason work and get back to preparing for game properly) he hasn't done anything for like 6+ years in terms of leadership.

Here's a great stat. Brett Favre has never come back from a game when his team was down by 14 points.

and the colts slowly creep up the standings.... manning vs. manning superbowl 09?

Watch Tennesse go 18-0 and be defeated by the Giants in the Superbowl. As a Pats fan, I'd have a good chuckle at that.

I know Tennesse is 10-0 right now, but I'm not sure if their Superbowl contenders, I think they'll get a bye and then be knocked off first round.

I don't remember when things were this jumbled up in the AFC. There are 5 teams at 6-4 and two at 7-3.

And in baseball news ...

On a liner note:

Dustin Pedroia wins AL MVP and a GOLD GLOVE one year after winning ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

Stud.

I need your Broncos to take out the Jets in a few weeks. Hopefully Favre throws 3 picks.

According to our records your account still shows a balance for this. If you've already sent payment please disregard this.
