2 Shorts with DSLR 550D.

you should set the same settings on both cams ,one has blue tint in shadows and other one doesnt, when they talk it looks like it was shot in other days,it doesnt blend.

Hey, I really enjoyed those two shorts!
Nice acting and great lighting for being limited on lights ;)

What I really enjoyed about technically was the sound.
As I am thinking about buying me some professional sound-equipment for my 550D it would be very kind of you to tell me the microphone + the recorder you used for your shorts.
Thanks!

Plus: Which lenses did you use?

For sound it was just me on the crew and we used a catpost to hold the boom pole. The mic was a Rode 2 going into a DV Pro mixer i think that was the name of the mixer. and going out of the mixer to a zoom h4n recorder.

Lenses were used was a 28mm 2.8, 50mm 1.8 and a 105mm 2.5

For lighting i had a 24" silk 500w china ball. 250w scoop. and 600w open face. ANd had a 2x3 silk

For the lighting i know what shot you are talking about is at the end of Delay of Game, I screwed up on the color correction on that abit and took the blacks to far in the CU of the male actor, His line is about watching the game or something. Still learning how to use color in a good way so it is a working process.

These 2 shorts was for the male actor to send to a casting director for The Hobbit.

This was for the guy actor, for a casting director for The Hobbit

A couple of things that sort of bothered me about both clips, if this was the 'goal'... In the first one seemed to have more shots on the young woman than the guy.

The other thing that struck me, and is something I need to work on with actors, at least the one's I can get for my short films, is that they seem to move around a lot. When I look at 'film pros', their motion is much more subdued, much more almost 'natural'...

For the comedy... well, it is unfortunate but I thought the outtakes were funnier...

For the drama, another thing that occurs to me, is several of the shots of the couple where the woman is speaking, had the male off to the edge, to the point where all I could see was perhaps the edge of his arms... either in the shot, or out, just the a 'rough' edge of someone standing doesn't work for me.
