2 questions, now that I have my HVX200

Hi everyone you might remember me as the guy who asked about battery life. Yes the guy who sold me my HVX over the phone was a little shady on the business side of things but needless to say my HVX arrived today. It came brand new with a bunch of other mostly worthless accessories (minus a hard case which looks very nice). Anyway just wanted to let you guys know that this eBay HVX dealer can be trusted.

I have two questions regarding the HVX.

A. Can I connect the HVX directly to my MacBook Pro and use Adobe Premiere 2.0 to capture HD 24p video or am I limited to FCP? I did not purchase any P2 cards because I wanted to see if I could do it without them first.

B. I've been browsing the forums and really like the looks of the M2. I've decided to try and get one with the extra funds I have left after paying for the HVX. However I am a little confused as to the type of lens you can use with the M2. What are some good quality yet relatively low costing lenses that would work for the M2? I read one topic that said the only way you'll get really good results is if you are using a $20,000 cinema lens. Don't get me wrong I want to get the best picture possible but I can't shell out that kind of money. My budget for a lens would probably in the area of $500-$800. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help.

Nope, Adobe doesnt support .mxf native..gotta change it to .avi with a tool like raylight...or download the trial of Edius4 from the canopus website, you will like it, its pc based and works native with mxf, you even can export to p2 format..should work flawless with the new macbook.

Are you in pal ot ntsc country?(first one would limit you with edius to dvcpro 50 and hd 1080i)

EDIT: sorry, you gotta organize a trial of edius 3, forgot that the edius 4 trial has no p2 support so far(just the trial!) they promised to change this soon..!

You cannot capture in Premiere Pro 2.0. You'd have to use an external capture utility such as Serious Magic's HD Rack (or DVC Rack as it's been called before).

I am in the US.

I was afraid Premiere wasn't going to work out. Oh well, thanks for directing me to the solution. The only reason I wanted to use Premiere was because I have it (unlike FCP which is a bit too expensive at the moment for me).

M2 wise: there's a whole thread in here somewhere about the M2 - it seems most people go for a set (wide, mi range and tele) and most seem happy with Nikon 35mm still lenses. It's mainly the shallow Depth of field you will be getting.
