2-cam sync using FREERUN+TC SET: 100B audio 2 frms ahead of 100A audio

THE PROBLEM: ATTEMPTING TO SYNC TWO DVX CAMS BUT
AUDIO IS 2-FRAMES OFF - 100B CAM AHEAD OF 100A CAM.

TEST:
Mulitcam shoot: I have two cams: a 100A and a new 100B

Did TC set maste-slave procedure to sync the FREE RUN time
codes on two cams (from Barry's "The DVX Book" book.)

TC are running too fast to tell if the TC SET button the the 100B
really did sync them but let's presume it did (FREERUN TC looks
sync'd).

Pressed 'record' on the cams, clapped my hands, loaded the
clips into Final Cut with "Batch Capture". Viewed the audio
waveform and the timecode for the two clips. When I drag the
clips to line up timecode, 100B cam audio is two frames ahead of
the 100A cam audio.

PUZZLING. ANYBODY TRIED THIS? WOULD REALLY LIKE THIS TO
WORK :-)

Thanks for your ideas.

Sounds like you may have had a 100 (not 100A) and an 100B. And the 100 (not 100B) audio is two frames advanced from the video. The original 100 did have a sync issue where the audio is recorded two frames earlier than the video when shooting 24p mode. In post you have to disconnect the audio and slide it two frames to the right and then reconnect it to the video.

There are some tools that can do this automatically; DVFilm Maker can do it, and I believe Apple's Cinema Tools does it as well.

Thanks Barry. Unfortunately it is 100A and a 100B. Ie., the A version
of the cam has all the features of the A version, is labeled such, 3 user
buttons, etc. And of course I just bought the 100B and it is just a little
sweeter than the A :-).

I worked really hard to verify the issue. Thing is, the audio is in sync with
the picture on both cameras by themselves and that's fine.

Any more ideas? I'm baffled. The workaround is to pull the 100B clips
two frames backward in the Final Cut time line but the whole TC SET
and FREEFUN thing looks to be just a little off. I had high hopes for this.
