GH4 2.4 aspect ratio 4608x1920 for gh4

After the last jvc firmware update I started looking more closely at the ls300 cameras spec. It has a 4608x1920 mode 2.4:1. As it happens this mode has exactly the same number of pixels as cinema4k so the gh4 should be able to record it no problem. I would love to see what I would call cinema4.6k on the gh4.

Anybody else out there find this desireable?

The GH4 has a DCP 4K 24 frame mode.

yes it does that would be 4096x2160
i am talking about 4608x1920, using the full width of the m43 sensor. Using the new .64 speed booster that gives full m43 sensor coverage you get a horizontal crop factor of 1.33. Not every one who wants to shoot at a anamorphic 2.4 aspect ratio wants to use an anamorphic after. Dcp 4k at 2.4 would be 4096x1707. This gives a 26.5% improvement in sensor coverage for that aspect ratio.

I don't think it will happen for the GH4, unfortunately, but I also would love to see this. I mentioned something similar back when the GH4 came out. Same pixel count, still 1:1 so no processing, just using different pixels. Should be able to do it, right?

This would definitely have some appeal for me as well. It's a little higher pixel count than UHD, but similar to DCP 4K so it should be doable.

I would love if they UPPED the count from 4K to 4.2 or 4.6 K by adjusting the aspect. Why not? They did it for Anamorphic, absolutely do it larger frame we can shrink to fit in post.

I'd recommended this update months ago, and keep pressuring them. Push the GH4 to the limit. Maybe get 30p C4K as well? Our cards are fast enough now... are the internals?

I'd love to get a 1:1 pixel option for all the DCI resolutions.

- In 2K, for Scope (2.39:1) presentation 2048×858
- In 2K, for Flat (1.85:1) presentation 1998×1080
- In 4K, for Scope (2.39:1) presentation 4096×1716
- In 4K, for Flat (1.85:1) presentation 3996×2160

Leave the scaling out of it, just record the pixels we need.
