The main purpose of this thread is to remind everyone that this is not a C100 only forum, and a camera called 1D C actually exists and is being used in the battlefield

Nice and compact. So compact that I can't tell what I'm looking at. What baseplate are you using and how does it attach to rods? I've found so few options that are compact and work with tall cameras.

Here are a few variations based around Edelkrone Modula 1. With rods, without, just the monitor and then the LCDVF (the preferred setup—with a monopod).

I only consider adding stuff to this camera if it's a necessary evil. Like I said above: preferred setup is just the LCDVF.

I use Variable ND for filtration, but that isn't really where it's at. I might reluctantly move to a matte box and standard filters, but I've managed without so far. The nature of my work rarely call for lots of filtration, so that might be a reason.

Generally happy with the Edelkrone products. Work as a advertised and look nice. The monitor arm is a gem.

Let's not forget the old device: the best camera is the one you have with you. To me, that is kind of the point.

Here my youngest is doing her best trying to look miserable:

The 1Dc is nice in that it fits so well in my left front pocket... ;)

Not really on topic: I´d like to see more films/videos shot on the 1DC, do you guys have any links? Then maybe this part of dvxuser would´t be all about the C100...;)

@Andree: She already has your 1000yard stare!;)

The rig is built around the cage made by Movcam

It's the old design in this photo, current design features a rod clamp with rosette block so you can attach standard ARRI rosette handles. Also this is the only 1D C rig system that takes advantage of the locating pin hole at the bottom of the camera, so it won't wiggle and is perfectly centred along its optical axis.

Ooh, I think that is what I've been looking for when I need to add rods. Is it sturdy? Light?

Yes very sturdy and light, you can remove parts you don't need to further reduce weight and size, for example, the top cheese plate, side accessory arm and two rod clamps are all removable. I'm using carbon fibre mattebox and rods to keep the weight minimal.

What's even nicer is with the 1dc you don't have to shoot a film. You can just shoot scenes and images that look beautiful. Images that can tell a story without a story or cuts. It is the first camera i personally have owned where the convention of making a movie in the edit was thrown out the window because my images could now stand on their own. No music. No dialogue. Just what i see and what i want to capture. Leave "movie" to the director, writer, producer types. I am a visual story teller. I love what Andree does.

Also off topic :)
+1 for seeing more, there is almost nothing out there. This camera could have been a staple in the industry. d I do hope this is proof enough to the execs at canon that they need to approach their pricing strategy a little different next time around.

Have any of you used the wooden camera cage for the 1DC? Being a despise'er of shoulder rigs, I do love compact solutions with a sturdy top handle and WC's cage looks like a really great solution(without the baseplate)

Marv,

I can't quite tell from comaring a few images(even 16x9 oem ones). But would you say a cinelock would fit on the side of this WC top plate given the space and threaded hole layout? Tight fit?

I don't think a cinelock can fit here

Marv,
You said that there is a newer design of the MovCam 1DC baseplate. Do you know where it can be purchased or where I might find pictures. I'm in the US. Ebay has Chinese distributors selling MovCam rigs with a new adapter plate for small cameras, but it's hard to figure out what I might actually be getting based on past experience.

The rig pics I uploaded feature the new design, there are only two differences, 1. top handle in the new design has a 15mm rod clamp to accomodate EVF holder. 2. front 15mm rod clamp on the baseplate has two ARRI rosette block attached. Movcam 1D C rigs are made to order, you might need to contact Movcam directly, especially if you want the new version.

DSLR form factor, lack of pro audio inputs, TC, no internal NDs. Shiver...no thanks, never going back there again. Did my time with the 5D MKII, 5D MKIII, GH4. Done. Kudos to those of you whose work will let you deal with all of the BS of the DSLR form factor, mine definitely won't, although I did it for three years. Image is not everything.

1DC / 1DX Rig shots, add yours to the list!

Haters gonna hate - I absolutely love this camera, no cam is perfect and if it's adapted right, it can blow your mind in quality and usability - but of course it all depends on what/how/where you shoot... These are some shots of my rig - I'm unhappy with parts of it (the bracket is crap and has so much flex that it will lift the follow focus from contacting the lens gear, the handle is crap and too big, need a lighter and real pro quickrelease mount to work with pro tripods that also allows you to adjust height...) but for the time and money I spent, it's an insane value. I'm looking to replace the bracket with a letus35 cage and some arri accessories, sidefinder smallhd 502 monitor and a decent shoulder rig for the rare times I am forced to sadly use one... Show us yours!!!IMG_2080.jpgIMG_2081.jpgIMG_2082.jpgIMG_2083.jpgIMG_2084.jpgIMG_2087.jpg
