1D C Codec

1D C codec. Is it ok for BBC/NGC? If I use the 1D C as a main camera whether it would be approved by BBC or not is a question I am grappling with. I can only buy either the C300 or the 1D C. The 1D C will be a bit better on the finances as it is likely to be cheaper. However, it is likely to be launched late december. I checked the C300 and sat with the Canon guys the entire afternoon. They want me to take the C300 as its codec is broadcast approved. The 1D C due its ability to do slow motion (60p at Full HD) will be of great help for my wildlife film (shooting from a small boat). C500 is completely out of my budget. I would prefer not to use an external recorder. So if someone can tell me whether the Codec of 1D C meets the broadcast standards of BBC and NGC etc, then it will really help. I felt good handling the C300 and liked the EVF. That would suit my style of shooting, barebones without the handle in a number of situations. The handle is neat for low angle stuff. I would appreciate if someone can answer. Cheers,Sabyasachi

It does not appear to be as good as a C300 at 1080p, just better at 4k, so I would not count o. It being approved at anything but 4k

Well the C300 is 4:2:2 at 1080P and the 1Dx is 4:2:0 at 1080P.

1Dc 1080P is also not in MXF it's in H.264(not sure if they accept h.264)

You have All-I compression so you'd probably have a high enough bit rate.(over 50Mbp/s)

You only get 60fps in full frame mode, you can only do 30fps in super 35mm mode(so you'd have less reach in 60fps)

This link has the information on what it does. http://www.thefilmmakersworkshop.com/movie-cameras/cannon-1-dc/
