1920x1080 from HVX ?

I know 1920x1080 isn't the HVX native resolution, so people getting 1920x1080 output are upscaling the footage ?

1920x1080 is the HVX's native resolution, but it can only record 1440x1080 (or 960x720) because of the DVCPRO-HD codec. In post your editing software changes the PAR (pixel aspect ratio) to get 1920x1080.
 
Righto - but I believe its 1280x1080 PAR is 1.5 and 1.33 on the 720 stuff. So no one is uprezzing really, but converting to square pixels to correct for the PAR.
 
1920/1440 = 1.33333 , but this isn't the correct aspect for HDTV, right ? Isn't 1920x1080 and PAR 1:1 ?

Right hdtv is 1920x1080 with a PAR of 1:1, HDV is 1440x1080 with a PAR of 1.33, DVCProHD is 1280x1080 with a par of 1.5 or 960x720 with a PAR of 1.33.

They all display as 16:9 its just horizontal pixel compression to save some space in the codec.
