16X9inc new EXII 0.8X Wide Attachment for the Panasonic HPX300

Hi,

i did a short comparsion between my Century and the EXII from 16x9. There is no big difference, both have barrel-distortion and unsharpness in the edges.
The Century is a little bit wider and have less minimum object distance. And the Century is a clamp-on, so i dont have to torture my lens-thread. So i prefer the Century, but what i really would prefer is the Fujinion 3.5x13 BRMU- lens....:-)
Anybody sell this??

Here is a comparsion picture:

Thanks Emmet! That settles it. I don't have to buy the Century just to test it, you did it for me. I am keeping the 16x9.

Thanks Ned, got the link and looked at the files. Now that Emmet has done a test on the Century it looks like the 16x9 is a pretty good deal.

As for the 2/3" to 1/3" adapter, I have shot several times using one. I used a Canon J20x8B4 Zoom Lens for a corporate event. I was on a Spider Pod at the back of a large tent, good light, and was close to the end of the lens. Looked good and no complaint from my client. With my DSR 450 (2/3") I would have needed to rent a 33X for 2.5 times the cost. Granted, that was a great lens and gave me a slightly tighter shot but the 20X was just fine.

I have also used the 33X for a project on shore birds. I was able to get some great shots of a Piping Plover on the nest, and two days both adults with chicks. When I get a moment I will You Send It some clips. By the way, a Piping Plover is a pretty small bird!

The third occasion was a standard 17X lens. I have several projects involving endurance sports car racing and tried it on the cheap for a trip to Road Atlanta in October. It was noticeably sub par to the 20X (both SD lenses) and CA was quite noticeable at the end of the lens as well as breathing. Were I to do it again (for that application) I would pop for Canon HJ21ex7.8BIRSD HD lens and I'm sure it would make a huge difference. Local rental on that lens is $225, so not too bad.

When using the 33X for the shore birds shoot we had it on a Sachtler 25. We were partially protected from the fairly stiff shore breeze by the door of a Honda element, but it was difficult not have any jitter even on a lock down. Still, great shots and I was very happy.

John
