16gig P2 for $1600 ?

That's weird. Especially your link Thoff.

I am hoping for something more along the lines of 1k-1200 in pricing though. Fingers crossed.

Interesting P2 development

Interesting P2 development

I just recently purchased an HVX, awesome camera. I also just purchased a Hoodman hood to use for exterior shoots with the lcd screen. The item arrived today from the company along with their new catalogue. In their literature they are showing off their own branded compact flash and SD cards, however they also had a picture of their own branded 16GB P2 card with an estimated
launch of July of this year.

Are you saying that you have a catalog photo of a third-party P2 card? What company? That'd be a first if it's actually happening...

Roy Batty! Great name! Yes, please elaborate or even better give us a link to this. If one thing and one thing only would drive down the price of P2 it would be competition. Wow, that would be freakin awesome! This month already has been pretty exciting for hvx owners.

I don't Roy Batty and this is only his second post.

However, why post this type of information without any reference to company, web site, URL, or link?

If some company is making a 3rd party p2 cards, might want to give a few details.

I spoke to a hoodman rep at the british FOCUS show, and he mentioned that they were doing them soon.

I didn't put much credence on it at the time.

He said about 20% cheaper than P2.

I don't care how much cheaper it is or isn't. If third party "p2" products are going to start hitting the market, they better be 100% as reliable as P2.

I'm Sorry if I created such a fuss. I checked Hoodman's site myself, and the P2
card is nowhere to be seen. I don't know if I am allowed to, but I could scan
the page off the catalogue and try posting it on here. Hoodman's own brand
is Called RAW, and the picture in the Catalogue is a 16GB Card.

Well, like me. I won't actually be tempted away.

It's more important it works than price. And as I'm happy with my present Itinerary, I can't see me buying much more than what I've already got. (save a couple of panasonic p2 16gigs as soon as they're available.)

We wont know how reliable they are untill we try them. Personnally, i dont care what brand they are as long as they work.
It surely wont hurt to have some healty competition.
