16GB class 6 SDHC card for cheap!

You guys are way too young. Try working in an Apple reseller back in 1984. We sold the Apple ProFile hard disk for $1,995. Its capacity? Five megabytes. Yes, megabytes, not gigabytes. Five megabytes. And it was huge. Look at it on top of the Apple Lisa in this Wiki link...

*of course, by 1984 the price had dropped substantially. When initially introduced in 1981 it was $3499, which works out to $500 per megabyte!

Back in 1978, when I worked at TRW, we were buying 1.2MB Removable Hard Drive Platters for $100 each for our PDP 11 system. The tapes to back up the drives were only $6 each however.

Grab a Patriot 16GB SDHC card from NewEgg - it's $29 after rebate and I think free shipping. I have three and love 'em.

Thanks for the SDHC recommendation Allen. I was hoping for something cheaper. Maybe I can find a smaller capacity Patriot.

Since we are strolling down memory lane, I was working on punch cards when I was in college and I have a 1984 Compaq portable with 384kb of memory and two 5.25" floppy drives in the basement! Last it ran was Windows 1.0, but not very well. And it only weighs 29 lbs!!!

With all the talk of storage getting cheaper and larger, its interesting that now almost a year after the hmc150 was released, both the camera and the memory cards cost MORE now. How often does that happen?

On the other hand, drives have been growing again and prices keep dropping. Gotta keep up with hard drive stock in place of tapes.

@MadHMC150: I have an external 2x speed CD recorder, multivoltage. Bought it for $280. Need one? ;-) I threw away a 5-inch floppy drive half a year ago.

lol... Thanks Crank but I all ready replaced it with (4) 22x dvd burners and a blu-ray burner :) haha
