16gb Card Capacity

I'm wondering if someone could give me an idea of the capacity of shooting video only onto these cards? I can't find the answer anywhere, haha.

Thanks!

Just be aware some CF cards corrupt the file system when pushed to completely fill the card. So for me, if I was recording more than 40 minuntes of continuous footage I'd change the 16GB card after three 12 minute sessions.

Your mileage may vary! Michael

Great info thanks. I haven't heard much about the Centon CF cards...it was the only one they had at Fry's...but I have 15 days to try it out and return it if it sucks. Corrupt file systems are not good...shouldn't have to worry about that.

I know this is OT...but how long does one battery last?

The 12 minute formula is a safe average. But in practical field use, you can easily get 13 or 14 minutes per take. I guess I'm averaging about 50 to 55 minutes per 16GB card or 100 to 110 minutes per 32GB card.

I shoot until the camera says "card full" and haven't run into any corrupt files using the inexpensive Kingston 133 Elite Pro cards.

Good luck.

Ditto here, doing testing on my SanDisk 16GB 45Mbps and 32GB 30Mbps I didn't experience any problems deliberately filling up the CF memory (YET). Then again, some people love to live in the fast lane or as I've seen on someone's bumper sticker:

BACKUPS ARE FOR SISSIES!

Lotsa luck, Michael

I use the 32gig sandisk extremeiii 30mbps ones. No issues other than sometimes the bufferfils and stops recording, but it only happens when quickly hitting the reccord button when magic lantern is done loading. It needs a second. But that seems like camera issues, not card....
