16 gig P2 Cards in 3 weeks

I was doing the research to buy a HVX and the store LEMAC in Melbourne told me that the 16 gig P2 card will be available for $2500 AUD and the 8 gig will drop to $1000 AUD in 3 weeks.

Plus I can get a HVX with an 8 gig P2 card for $8800 AUD from Tasman AV is this a good price in Australia.

Interesting. I wonder how much the 16GB P2 cards will go for in the US and how much the other cards will drop down in price. Does anyone know what the conversion is from the Australian dollar to the US dollar?

nevermind, I found the conversion rate. It's 1 Australian dollar = 0.7945 U.S. dollar for anyone who's interested.

2,500.00 AUD = 1,977.80 USD = 1,501,65 €

1 USD = 1.26403 AUD as of today.

1) French distris speculated a 1000 € range price.
2) This would be consistent with the sudden 550 € (out of VAT) drop to "leave space" to the 16 Gig.)
3) Sales/mktg build consistent pricing 8/16. A too high difference would result in a
Gig/€ ratio favoring the 8 Gig

Thanks for this info..VideoGuys.com.au had been the cheapest I'd found....but this price from Tasman AV is a lot better! (Mind you sometimes it just pays to ask 'what's the best you can do!?')

The price on videoguys website is:

Price : $A10,395.00 inc GST with 8gig card.

Price : $A9,290.00 inc GST with 4 gig card.

We still seem to be a lot more expensive than the States!

Not sure whether our US friends would consider 7,353.54 USD for a HVX202 with one 4gb card a good deal or not! :)

It looks from the picture I found on Panasonic catalog, that they are a little bit late with the bigger capacity cards. Also checking Wikipedia for Red camera, I've looked in the Competitors listing and checked them out: some of them already offer 32GB solid state card for recording.

What is competitors listing? And who are they?

Digital magazine is a whole lot different than a Cardbus Card, and It will come out whenever the camera comes out, not here not now.
