150 looks killer on the big screen

For those that doubt the image from the 150 on a large scale let me tell you that it can look amazing on the big screen. We just premiered our third feature over the weekend in which I shot with the stock 150 and I was blown away by the image. This of course was in a state of the art theater that is only a few years old and the Texas Instruments DLP projector we used is insane and probably helped in the beautiful imagery. I think one of the projectors is roughly in the $100k range if not more. We hooked a MacPro up via DVI and projected a high bitrate HD .h264 file. Still cant believe how well everything held up even with a highly compressed file.

I have not projected anything that big, but we did project a pre-wedding video at a reception to a large(ish) screen and it looked awesome too.

The HMC footage can look stunning as long as you don't have too much noise, it's correctly focused and well color graded.

I don't know if we will have it online anytime soon. The 150 produces very little noise especially Compared to the Dvx which I used to shoot our previous films but you need to be set up correctly and well exposed. We did no color grading and only slight color correction to fix a few scenes. I'm from the get the look in camera camp and used a modified filmic scene file based on the panasonic file. Also an extremly high end projection system helps.

Nice. I have shown 2 feature films on the big screen at Landmark theaters and they looked just like they did on my computer screen. Those new projectors are something special. Next time I will try the DVI did not even think of that. we ran Blu Ray. We could have also uploaded it to their sever, which I did not know until after I booked the place. Glad to hear it looked good.
