Everybodies buddy, (hi jack) comes and promotes the sale, and hes the closest thing to a mod around here considering hes making a movie for the site owners last i heard .

As well as your post in here as if this was the cafe doesnt involve the sale of this machine as well.

Being concerned, and concering (involving someone directly) are different things. Could just report for the mods to decide this situation instead of having a discussion of the legallities of this in this thread.

imo i personally think replies in the marketplace should be turned off just like jobs to prevent situations like this. I cant imagine if i made a marketplace sale thread like this, what would occur that is.

Funny how someone so interested in quoting forum policies about posting in a thread that "does not concern you" has done so twice.

You have no idea what David's motives for posting were, and bring JDS into the discussion accomplishes what? Because he said it's a good deal, we should overlook something that is against the law? Well thought out.

If the discs were included, how would that be "ripping" anyone? If he doesn't want to part with his software, that's fine. Just remove it from the computer and don't put it up as part of the deal. If you offer software, include the liscened copies of it. How it that hard to grasp?

Instead of simply responding to my post, or the posts of others, maybe you should think about the larger picture. Sure, my post may have pissed you off, but how exactly, does that negate the points I bring up? It doesn't.

Were I a mod, this thread would have been shut down as soon as the seller said the discs were not included.

And besides, who said it hasn't been reported to a mod?

One thing 1st, you can get new Mac Book for $1K, which would smoke the hell out of a G4. So maybe ... just maybe ... there is some price consideration for the software ... And originally he was asking $1400. He's had to lower his price.

I didn't know anything about disks or license or anything when I posted as it hadn't come up yet. So don't assume me or anyone else that posted here is or isn't ok with this or that. Looks like you are assuming again just like you made and posted a bunch of erroneous assumptions about my financial situation back in the day. You turned out to be flat wrong then.

You have a problem because either the deal is too good for the seller, but also if the deal is too good for the buyer???????
WOW. There's no pleasing you is there.

Maybe the dude set his price too low. So what. Maybe you don't know that you can't use P2's with FCP 4.5. So again, maybe that coupled with what you can get a new MacBook right now makes the price just about right.

I wasn't even considering the software when I posted and said it was a good deal. I paid $2700 for this laptop new. To have one at $1k with a PCI slots for P2 with no software would be a good deal to me still.

And if the disks are included would I have a problem with one guy "ripping the other guy off" cuz that's the price he set. No. He's a grown up.

And AGAIN originally he was asking $1400. He's had to lower his price. Obviously that was too high if no one here was snapping it up. But somehow, the market expert, you, have a problem with it.

I'm really really sorry I saw what I thought was a good deal, of which I have no need, and thought I would give another filmmaker trying to convert his redundant resources into new gear, a hand. Because honestly I think / thought it was a good deal. Sorry I tried to be nice for no reason other than wanting someone to get what I think / thought was a good deal.

Unlike you I don't see a cloud of conspiracy and a jackass around every corner.

And I 'm not a mod. I'm not even like a mod. I don't have any say as to what goes around here except to PM a mod and ask for or suggest this or that ... and ... So no I am not making a movie for the "site owners" because the site OWNER (no plural) doesn't have any thing to do with the movie at least not at this point.

I guess if you did that and they did something about it, you couldn't condemn them for not doing something.

Maybe they don't give a **** about a 15" g4 pb and so have not looked in this thread at all.

Maybe they're computers are on and logged on but they are at another workstation marketing Red Camera or making an FCP instructional DVD.

No you are right, the only answer is that they endorse software piracy. Gosh do you work for Scotland Yard or something?

And after the spanking you just took from JDS, well, there's not much more for me to say.


As far as off topic, this thread is in Antarctica. Shame, since all a couple of people wanted was clarification on software issues. And others decided to be obstinate seemingly for the sake of it.

Smart move posting something libelous that can probably be disproven.

Don't know why you even want to be a member here though where we endorse software piracy and just aren't as smart or enlightened as you.

Maybe I won't stop at asking them to ban you. Maybe I'll sue.

Since it can be proven I never did that.

Sorry to dislodge the thread. I brought up points I deemed relevant.


I hope you sell your powerbook, but would advise simply that you strip it to its OS. Safe yourself some hassle and two pages of unneeded posts.
 
Wow! I never expected any of this... I was just tryin to A) Sell this laptop soon.. Priced to move... B) Try and help a DVXUser out who, maybe can't afford Final cut 5.1.4 (Yes, works great with p2!!) or any of this other software by leaving it installed... I have sold all my other systems here before.. ask anyone who has purchased a Mac from here form this message board.. This board helps me out a lot and I try to return in kind... Again, the laptop is still for sale... please e-mail jgurnick@gmail.com for direct contact..

We were looking for two things:

1. A PB with a PCMCIA type II Card bus slot; and

2. A second seat for FCP with complete licensing.

I asked the question I did because someone had observed that this bundle was a "good deal."

I learned that the original discs were not included. So it wasn't a good deal for us.

As I asked: "It would be good to know if the OP is including all the original discs."

He said he wasn't.

Not certain what pot I stirred by trying to clarify what was actually included.

Also, please be aware that this site does not allow nor condone discussions of piracy, for obvious reasons. Comments like "you could just get the SN from the screen when it loads up" (paraphrased) should be avoided. As should any sale advertising any kind of illegal software, etc. Just fyi...
