14-140 zoom action not entirely smooth -- normal?

Recently got a GH2 with the 14-140mm zoom lens. I'm sad to find that the zoom rotation action is not an entirely smooth motion. Basically, it seems like about 2/3rds of the way from wide to telephoto that the force required to turn the zoom ring changes, resulting in a bit of a jump (when I'm trying to apply even pressure on the ring to get a smooth zoom). iIt's a relatively subtle thing, but definitely enough to make a smooth focal length change more difficult. Is this normal of the 14-140?

A $30 Panasonic zoom lever fixes this problem. I love the 14-140, but I hope that someday, Panasonic realizes the need for a real video zoom lens for these cameras.
ah, exactly what i need. i thought of this concept myself, thinking i'd try a small quick-grip type squeeze clamp on the zoom ring to provide a long lever, but even though this has less leverage it's a much cleaner design.

What are you comparing the lens to as "normal"?
good question. mostly i want to make sure my copy of this lens isn't abnormal. but i guess i'm also thinking of the action on say a canon 24-70L. that's definitely a pricier lens, but the 14-140 certainly isn't cheap.
