1394 HOST problems

I have a 1 TB external drive and I'm trying to use it to dump my P2 footage directly. I've made sure the setting is on 1394 HOST and when I enter the PC mode I get the warning "Too Many Targets, Please Turn Off". I can't figure out what's going on. It seems to think I have a chain of Firewire drives but I don't.

It's a cmmon problem with WD drives. I've had it too, as have many others. You have to try a different brand of HD to get it to work. WD drives, which I would almost bet the bank is what you have, seem to be uniquely troublesome.

I'm getting ready to buy my external harddrive and want to make sure I get the right one to work with for downloading P2 Card. What works for you (anyone)? (using the PC)

It is WD. I'll have to get a smaller drive (300GB) to use as a host and then move the files from that one to my TB drive.
Thanks

I have had no problems with Seagate Barracudas in my three external drives. I have them fitted to Pleiades Cases and I always format them as Mac drives to permit cross platform compatibilty.

(Even though I am a PC guy ... I take a hit for the team)

It's not the hard drive itself that is causing problems, but the controller in the enclosure. If you were to replace the WD drive in the enclosure with a Seagate drive, you'd still have the same problem.
