1394 Connect Camera to Mac - FCP Doesn't See the Clips

Okay, I never used to have problems with this. But recently when trying to dl cards using a camera in 1394 device mode, and using the FCP log and transfer window, FCP refuses to see any clips at all. The camera says "connected" and I try pointing fcp to the right directory, but it still doesn't see it. I have tried this using both my HVX and my HPX and still no luck. I did get it to see a P2 Store once, but I'm not sure how it happened.

I'm running a Mac Pro with FCP 6.0.2.

Did I change a setting, or miss something?

Thanks for your help!

Copy the contents of the P2 cards to your hard drive first then log and transfer from there- much faster.

hi Noah. I've actually met you once, a long while back, but I'm sure you don't remember me. Anyway, I've already tried that. I copy the contents and last clip onto the hd into its own folder, and FCP still doesn't see the clips, even when I point it to the folder. On another note, say I have 3 p2 cards in camera (HPX-500)...when the camera is connected I should see 3 "no name" drives, but sometimes I only see 1, and sometimes I see 3....it's weird.

well I fixed the mysterious some drives not mounting to desktop problem using barry's suggestion to use the disk utility to mount the drives. that fixed it. but final cut still refuses to see the clips. on occasion i got it to see a small handful, but not everything that is mounted. this is getting frustrating...anyone with thoughts?
