1080p, deep focus, high ISO footage request

I'm on the fence about the 7D, and I'm hoping someone will be kind enough to upload 1080p or 720p un(re)compressed -- as in, not Vimeo or YouTube, but straight from the camera -- 7D high ISO footage (3200-12800), preferably at night, but low-light indoors and daytime stuff is welcome too, to aid me in the decision-making process.

If your footage has been shot without in camera noise reduction all the better, and please specify; this is the footage I most am curious to see. I want to see if having this turned off creates less ugly, smudgy noise.

Now, there are plenty of high ISO, nighttime 7D videos on Vimeo already -- but almost all utilize excessive shallow DOF. I want to see deep focus footage. I've seen little of this on Vimeo or Youtube and absolutely none presented direct-from-camera.

I realize these files will be large, so I imagine archived .rar files (perhaps split into several archives) hosted on sites like Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc. might be the best way. Also, torrents would be great. I can promise to download and begin seeding straight-away so you can delete the footage or at least not worry about seeding.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Looks like I'm not getting any takers here.... I guess it's too much to ask for straight-from-the-camera footage--I understand that. So, Vimeo and YouTube stuff is fine

You waited a day for a response. Give it some time before giving up. I wouldn't mind doing this, but do realize this is a good hour minimum out of someone's day, out of courtesy, to do you a favor. I will not be off work tonight until 10:30 pm (pacific time), but will see if I can throw something together.

Also, deep focus is going to be tough for night footage The high ISO's let a lot of light in, but that's stopping it down a TON. As I said though, I'll try to throw something together for you.

Thanks a lot Bryant. I do realize putting something like this together is taxing on one's time, hence why I made the "Vimeo and YouTube stuff's okay" addendum. I definitely would prefer straight-from-camera footage still, as I'm not sure how much more I can glean about the 7D's image quality from Vimeo and YouTube compressed videos, but I'm pretty starved for anything deep focus from this camera, much less high ISO stuff, so -- beggars can't be choosers, I guess.

But thanks in advance -- I'll check back later

Don't know if I can get to it tonight after all. But I wou say by the end of the week for sure. Is there anything more specific you'd like to see, or just night-time outdoor stuff?

I'm planning on doing a 3200, 6400, and 12,800 sample of each with the lens stopped down as much as it will allow without being a pitch black picture (which, really, may or may not be too stopped down considering video can do 1/30 shutter speed at the lowest and usually 50 is optimal for 24p)

Also, quick note. I really don't think the noise level will be affected much between and shallow or deep depth of field, it should look pretty much the same, just more focus. I usually shoot around 4-5.6 on my canon 50mm 1.4 since that's the sharpest aperture range, stopped down more will be a definite loss in sharpness.

That sounds excellent, exactly what I want. I would like to mention--though this is probably apparent--that you shouldn't worry about trying to, you know, show the exposure boost the higher ISO can give. As in, you don't need to provide a brighter 12800 image than 6400. In fact, to give me a good idea of noise levels, which is really all I'm looking for, illumination/brightness might as well be consistent, so you can stop down the aperture when you bring up the ISO, as long as the image is reasonably well-lit in the first place.

As far as image content, it really doesn't matter. Trees, foliage, bushes, etc are great if you have access to them. I'd like to see how these kinds of things appear in deep focus at high ISOs. Typical city/suburb night stuff is also good, cars driving, streetlights--whatever's easiest for you.

Yeah, this is undoubtedly true. I'm just curious about deep focus/noise at night, not necessarily the difference between it and shallow focus/noise at night. I want to see if there's artifacting, if detail is good, and, most importantly, how the noise looks straight out of the camera, without recompression.

I wonder, is there a default Noise Reduction feature in-camera that engages for high ISOs or long exposures? If there is, I know some DSLRs have it, I'd be great if you could compare a shot or two with it on and with it off.

Thanks so much. No rush, either. I'm really appreciative that you're taking the time to do this in the first place. Hopefully it'll benefit more than just me, too.

Not yet man, I have tomorrow off, which means I will be out tonight, which should give me the perfect opportunity. Sorry for the wait, but I should have something for you in the next day or so. I will setup an account with a file sharing site now so that it'll be ready to upload when the footage is shot.

Also, I attempted to make a .rar out of another video file as a test, and it didn't seem to have any change whatsoever on file size, so, unless I'm doing it wrong, I'll probably just post them in their native .mov

Okay, excellent. Thanks a lot. Some things compress more easily than others. I think the more complex the source file (video, music), the harder it is to compress and bring down file size.

I look forward to these files. I think they'll be a big help

(Wow, so rapidshare only allows 10 downloads (?!!!). If those get used up, please let me know via here, or PM, and I can re-upload it or use a different site)

In case the 10 get used up, here is a second link to megaupload

Alright!

Here we are. Sorry about the focus, I was trying to get my friend with varying amount of success, but hopefully it still gives you a good idea.

Download is a .rar file, so download the free .rar unpacker via google search and you'll be set.

All were shot with the Canon 7d with the Canon 50mm 1.4

Forgot to rename the files, but info is as follows (# refers to last 3 digits of file), and shutter speed is 30 for all (50 would have been preferable, but this was so I could get a greater DOF)

169: ISO 3200, f/11
170: ISO 6400, f/14
171: ISO 12,800, f/16

I really hope this helps people out, let me know if you have any other questions. Sorry for the long wait!

AND, just to clarify, these are completely unmodified files directly off the memory card.

Great stuff, Bryant. Very helpful. It shows that a relatively sharp, deep focus image can be achieved at night without any obvious artifacting. The 7D's noise isn't the prettiest, but no camera's perfect. If these images could be achieved at a focal length of 50mm, something wider angle + high/mid aperture should be able to get an very sharp, in-focus image (and the shorter focal length would allow one to stop down the aperture, thus getting more light in extremely dark situations while still keeping everything in focus -- or at least this seems plausible).
