1080p capturing -- not recording

I pulled this quote from somwhere else:

"According to Panasonic, the HVX operates natively in 1080p mode, meaning that it is capturing 1080 horizontal lines sequentially (not interlaced). However, it does not record 1080p."

Maybe this is old news, but if the hvx does not record in 1080p, then why is that setting available in the menu? What is the camera actually recording when using this setting?

I think the person writing this implied that the camera captures 1080p60 but it cannot record this. It will record 1080i60 or 1080p30. Just badly written.

Yes, 1080p24 as well of cause, but 1080p30 is the maximum framerate at the highest resolution.

I asked Jan about 1080p 24.
Right now FCP does not support the 1080p 24 mode.
I originally bought the camera for the purpose of shooting 1080p 24,
hopefully FCP will be supporting this mode in a new update.
I have tested the 1080p 24 mode. I have no idea if
FCP is making a proper QT file or not. Since I cannot edit in FCP
with a 1080p 24 file who knows?

I have played with 1080p 24 files in AE 7. You can remove the
pulldown. I have also imported 1080p 24pA files into AE 7 and it
will make it into a 23.976 file....again since I cannot edit 1080p 24 in FCP I have no idea what I am getting. I am going to experiment with dropping a 1080p 24p file into a 720 24 project. I just see more resolution and less noise in the 1080p files.
