GH4 10 bit HDMI 4K recorder vs 8bit internal 4K?

Hey, is there a video out there online which shows the difference of 10 bit HDMI 4K recorder vs 8bit internal 4K? I want to see how much quality difference it makes. As a 4K HDMI recorder costs up to 2000$, which is even more then my GH4 itself. Thanks

I'm inexperienced so don't listen to me. But, I SUSPECT any videos you watch online, you would BARELY perceive any color difference. The best difference (I believe) is in color correcting - a lot more wiggle room before things break up. If you haven't seen things break up, try pushing colors and contrast a lot more until you do.
You will probably be able to see a difference in the final edit, but I think it will be so minimal most regular viewers will never know the difference unless told to look for it. And most playback monitors and TVs are too limited to fully show it right now... I think. Please correct me where I am wrong that I might learn. :)

The Shogun is not shipping yet.
Yes but sure there are other recorders out there, even 1080P you should be able to see a difference or not? If it is only noticeable in grading, then I don't care for it. As I can adapt my shooting style to my grading to one extent. 10bit and 8bit should not make that much of a difference like raw vs rec.709 does right?

You asked " is there a video out there online which shows the difference of 10 bit HDMI 4K recorder vs 8bit internal 4K?"

There are no 10-bit 4K HDMI recorders shipping yet!

An average viewer won't tell the difference. Heck, most average people won't see a difference between a RED and T3i unless they're put side by side. (Provided some indie filmmaker didn't abuse the footage in post.)

However, while the 10bit may down convert to 8bit on services like YouTube, shooting 10bit seems to aide in how it can appear online. Especially with banding. I remember this being talked about when people were messing with converting GH4 4K 8bit 4:2:0 to 1080p 10bit 4:4:4.

Right now there are several ways to record 4k UHD from the GH4's HDMI connector with an HDMI to SDI adapter. In addition, one can record Cinema 4K through the GH4's YAGH interface with an AJA Ki Pro Quad recorder. Of course, there are PC/capture-card solutions, as well.

However, the Convergent Design and Atomos 4K recorders promise more compact, featureful and cost effective solutions. It appears that Convergent will beat Atomos to the punch.

And are there any comparison video's out from them anywhere to be seen?
I never saw any comparison videos.

However, this video has some 4k clips recorded with the Ki Pro Quad. I seem to recall a video that was shot around the Vegas Strip during NAB that was recorded 4K with a Ki Pro Quad, but I can't find it.

I thought I had heard that it is possible to get a 4K 60p output from the YAGH interface on the GH4. Is that correct? As in true 60 fps, not 24 or 30p padded within a 60p stream.

Do realize that the Atomos Ninja Star is an HD recording device, NOT a 4K recording device. So I would take that video with a grain of salt!
