10" 1024x600 monitor with battery and HDMI input for your upcoming GH2, $130 only

oh didnt realize the resolution was so low. if i was to order a monitor today, is the 130$ one still the best option? id be willing to spend a little more.

I am not seller of this monitor :-)
So, it is certainly not the best option if you want to choose from all monitors up to $1000 :-)
Nearest good option is SmallHD DP6 for $899, plus may be some in around $700-800.
Best small monitors are around $1800-3000 :-)

well im happy to report i just ordered my gh2 from vistek.ca :) the small hd is still too far out of my price range so the 130$ one still looks like the best option. i figure i buy this monitor now and when i need to upgrade, take my saved $$$ and get one of the smallHD monitors

That was my thinking as well

I think that SmallHD is for slightly different purpose.
You can use 10.2" to frame the shot from the distance or show client how he looks :-).
5.6" Screen is not suitable for this.
And remember build in player. Make rolling titles in AVI file, put on SD and you have cheap teleprompter :-)

I received mine a few days ago, it came VERY quickly. I haven't had a chance to test it out yet, but it is significally lighter than I expected. I'll hopefully get a chance to test it out this weekend, but so far I am pretty happy with it. Thanks Vitaliy for the heads up about this monitor.

For those of you that have the monitor, would you mind posting some links to the batteries that you are using with it? Also, how are you keeping the battery attached to the camera? Some sort of homemade dock? Thanks.

I do not use small batteries at all.
Either internal battery(you know about it, right?) or 12v.
I suggest to look at ready and cheap LiIon 12v batteries on ebay if you need to shoot for long periods.

I haven't gone through a full cycle with the internal battery yet, but I doubt it would last me 8-12 hours, right?

Would something like this work and not damage the monitor? http://cgi.ebay.com/12V-Portable-1500mAh-Li-ion-Rechargeable-Battery-Pack-/120651515374?pt=US_Batteries&hash=item1c176405ee#ht_4087wt_820

Just got one of these monitors today. Still waiting for the external battery and the arm, but I hooked up via hdmi to my hmc150, and it worked, so yay!

Someone know the weight of this monitor? I found only the package weight, but not the weight of monitor only (very important - or not?)

Hey I buy one of you monitors and it is good! I used it on paid shoot already, although client ask about chinese writing on front of it. Then I shoed them toy store looking box it came in and they laugh more. So I have two question. 1) anyone know a good way to make sunshade? I used cinema foil, its just ok. 2) I got about 2 hours battery life from internal, I got 14.4 IDX heavy duty from other cams I want to adapt. Is just any 12v to 14v inline transformer work?

Great find, and great to have a producer actively taking requests.

I need two small portable screens to use outdoors, so 5.6"-ish is ideal, although at a stretch 7" would be OK too. 10+" is too large.

I need them cheap, so no particular special features, just bright non-reflective panel and reliable HDMI input. And as thin as possible.

... except for one, I do need a way to flip (reverse/mirror) the screen, either horizontally or vertically. The two screens will be used as a stereoscopic preview monitor for 2 cameras, with a half-silvered mirror inbetween, so the image on one needs to be flipped.

This is a common feature for screens used as rear-view mirror replacements (with a camera mounted in the back of the car), and many (most?) LCD boards also have this option, even if it's not exposed in the menus (I would hack a screen if needed, but the option would be better).

This things must have a way to update firmware.
And I told manufacturers that they need to improve EDID and connection routines in firmware.

And that do you mean under "default 1080i/p"?
All bad things that I know if sometimes flickering for few seconds upon connection.
I received my monitor a couple weeks ago, and it worked fine with my MacBook Pro (using a DVI-to-HDMI cable). I just received my GH2, and using a mini-HDMI-to-HDMI cable, it works fine with my TV. But the same set-up doesn't work with the monitor. I simply get "NO SYNC" on screen. Any suggestions?

Also, I know what CTI, LTI and DNR in the settings stand for (Color Transcient Improvement, Luminance Transcient Improver and Digital Noise Reduction), but what's BLE?

Nevermind. I realized that the HDMI port on the monitor is so deeply recessed, that it wasn't making a complete connection. I trimmed about 1 millimeter of plastic off my HDMI cable with an Exacto knife to expose more metal, and now it works fine.
