10" 1024x600 monitor with battery and HDMI input for your upcoming GH2, $130 only

Are there any good battery to buy for this screen?where I can bought it? Stock battery won't last too long.

..when vimeo converts the footage, you will be able to see it here.
as you see, i did set hdmi out to 720p, i have tried all settings.. but it just won't work....

You could find this mentioning in my small review.
I mentioned it many times to manufacturer, but it looks like they did not understand.
I think that it is related to EDID and may be to code that change modes inside firmware.
Flashing on my GH1 is related to simple thing - that will appear after pressing play.
As far as I remember it works ok with stills.
Also it could be result of GH1 firmware, as I thinlk that it started acting after I turned on preview during framing via composite output (long trash button holding).

it's a shame.. i haven't had many opportunities to use it with gh13, only once as a preview in composite mode and as Program monitor before hitting rec ... i use it mostly as a second monitor when i'm mobile with my mac book 13" ...
it tried also with stills but had same problem.... took a photo, pressed play.. but just kept flashing...

Have you tried the trashcan trick? I believe it works by holding the trash button for 10secs in playback mode (correct me if I'm wrong). After that, the GH1 should output a proper black signal (with VSYNC pulse) during recording (it normally outputs nothing). Maybe this trick also helps with your problem.

Hey guys, thinking about grabbing this one for it's smaller size factor and it comes with a shoe mount, with the mount on the bottom, one thing I'm worried about though, is it really 1920 x 1080 or some sort of upscaling they use to mislead people to believe it's HD... might be an obvious answer but I don't know much about these kinds of monitors....

seanmcleod, they're saying the INPUT can handle up to 1920x1080, not that it's actually displaying 1920x1080. Basically it's saying it won't be confused when you plug an HD signal into it, and it'll only display an 800x480 image.

My question:
Is 800x480 enough resolution to accurately determine focus from an HD source? The obvious answer would be NO, but I've never tried... anyone?

Yeah I figured that out after I posted that... I just got confused with the wording, which I think they hope for. Anyways I've seen some people review those 7" lilliputs and they say they are good enough for focus, but I would rather here it from someone who has used the $5000 and up pro on board monitors, not someone on YouTube I've never heard of. After all was said and done though I ordered on of the one Vitaliy posted about originally... I need it for an upcoming shoot so I'm just gonna use it until (if) they design a new one to the requested specs, at which point I'll pick up that one.

hi my peeps! I like this screen and like to know if there is way to attach to tripod libec, dv950. I don't like stick it on hotshoe or rails unless no ther choice, I don't want weight carried by head. So far I got swivel articulate arm that vitalis said to bought. And other question, is there big battery for shoot all day? Sorry my english suck.

Yes, it is enough to pull focus. I have had this monitor for over a year now. Cheap, but don't expect good quality. Again, it's good just for framing and focusing. The image quality is poor.

I don't understand. Why you say only good for framing and focus? Is there another reason to buy? No one would buy for color correct right.

No but usually the goal of a monitor is to get as accurate a representation of the image your capturing as possible, so you know what your getting. If your monitor has a lacks in showing colors and dynamic range properly you may think the image your shooting looks great, but get it into your edit suite and its way too under/over exposed, has a green cast everywhere, or something else.

What some people would use the cheaper monitors for is just for focus/framing, not rely on it to judge their image other than I like the frame, subjects in focus. Not is that light to hot on the face, does that back light need to be gelled etc...

The camera have a historygram and
Something like zebra cloud for exposure so no worry about exposure. If like good color accuracey you have to spend big money! And nobody care about accuracy much in field monitor! Sometime we use bw monitor! Better in some ways.

I got mine today!
It was just shipped before Chinese New Year.

First impression; for the money it looks really nice :)
Some things that could be better are blacklevel and the aspect ratio cuts some of the side of the screen (with GH2), would be nice if you could flip the screen, maby with a firmware update?

Shame about the cutoff - I assume this is for 16:9 video?

Is it scaling the image to fit the full 600 pixel height? If yes and the 16:9 aspect is preserved, this would result in 1067 pixels (600*(16/9)), so 21 pixels at each side would be cropped off.

A more common mistake on monitors is for the image to be scaled to fit the panel (with minor distortion). Letterboxing would be best of course.

Definitely no option for flipping (mirroring) in the menu? It can often also be done at the circuit board with dip switches.

And is it otherwise reliable with the GH2?

Here is the panel we want, Hydis HV056WX1-100:

5.6", 720p, 500:1 contrast, 300cd/m2 brightness (LED backlight), view angles (R/L/U/D): 85/85/85/85.

OK it's only 18bit (262k colours), but I only care about focusing & framing. You can buy it in kit form (as linked), though it would be nice to get a better price for quantity (group buy anyone?).

From some Googling, it's a really nice display, but may be glossy (can that be removed?). 2nd issue is that the only two popular interfaces for it are either huge (the linked one with 7 different inputs including HDMI with HDCP), or small but VGA-only. However I've already found at least one alternative controller, so if we can find an HDMI-only board (or something small with HDMI). I'd seriously consider building my own.

Anybody with an electronics background know about this stuff? I can do basic soldering and even microchip programming, but I'm no electronics or panel guru.
