7D 1.2.1 firmware-wow?

I upgraded from 1.0.9 to the 1.2.1 firmware prior to shooting a dimly-lit nightclub scene at ISO 3200. I expected the typical noise and poor color rendition ...however I'm pleased with the results. Is anyone else seeing a substantial improvement in low-light shooting with the new fw?

Actually cjwolf....what I see is High ISO speed noise reduction seems to now make a difference. I was toying with it last week (especially after Nikon looked great in that Zacuto test) and thought it made no difference to the image (basically useless). But I just downloaded the new firmware and cranked it all the way to 3200, 5000 and 12500. It's either I'm smoking the same crack pipe as you....or there is really a difference (ever so slight).

Someone else please confirm.

12500 is still a noisy mess though....

Ian, so what you are insinuating is that the high ISO noise reduction (which we investigated before) used to only affect stills but now affects video? If this is true I would have expected some info from Canon on that...however if this is confirmed I will be downloading the new firmware.

Color me skeptical though.

Well...like I said...I could be high... :)

I'm still playing with it though.

EDIT: Oh well....it looked good in my LCD.
