my 0000 file won't import into PPro CS5.5 ... typically I do a test record before I start recording important stuff. So I never have use the 0000 file.
unfortunately I filled up the other card and went and manually changed slots... so the camera will reset the number system. (FYI: I change slots prior to hitting record)
so WTF it keeps locking up the program. are 0000 files crap files?
all the other clips imported fine.
I used MTS merger to see if that would help but the new file had the same problem.
AVCCAM restore found nothing wrong.
I was able to play the file in Windows Media player fine.

Any ideas????????????????

I landed up converting it in handbrake and PPro took in the m4v file.. I just hope it doesn't lock up PPro because the new file is not correct for the rest of the time line.

Make sure that you import using the Media Browser, and not from FILE, IMPORT.

Use the Media Browser to navigate to the PRIVATE folder, and you should then be able to select the 00000 file from there. Just right click on the file, and choose IMPORT.

There's nothing inherently wrong with 00000.MTS files. They're every bit as valid as any other MTS file. So if you're having complications with yours, there may be something damaged with that particular file, but in general there's no difference between 00000 and any other MTS file.

Lance, I did try it that way and no luck.

Barry, If the file was damaged... Restore was unable to see the damage.
Windows played the file fine.
PPro would just lock up every time I tried to import the stupid thing. Ctrl-Alt-Del was over used that day.

I just hope it doesn't happen again.

PS: that Handbrake seems very interesting. I heard about it but after tried it I wonder if I should throw out my Squeeze. (not really going to do that but just saying)

The fact that Windows media player plays the file fine and Handbrake was able to convert the file fine, would indicate to me that the file was recorded just fine.

The problem must lie with Premiere Pro. The fact that the program is actually crashing would tend to confirm that, in my opinion.
