••stutterring d90 while recording••

What speed is your card. I would try and borrow someone's UDMA 300 compact flash card if you can and see if the faster card can help. When moving the camera there is more info I believe the processor is working harder to keep up. Just a thought but good luck with it.

My card is the 16 GB ScanDisk Extreme III 30MB's edition...pricey little bugger. Anyone has a card they recommend?

yep...I went out there and filled up the 16 GB card with video and it shows up here and there...some of it is very mild and sometimes it is harsh. It can vary from 1 to 4 frames aprox. The more you use the camera ( the longer it is turned on) the worse it gets!

big bummer!

When I step through using QT it seems every fifth frame is duplicated of the previous. I can see it's a duplicate because the compression artifacts change.

I have the same card with no problems.

After opening a clip in QuickTime you can use your left and right arrows to step frame by frame.

interesting....you are right. I just did this and every foruth frame is a repeat...

yet in my footage sometimes the image skips frames...as if they were never written. I have been checking and dowloading the raw files of some of the videos posted on vimeo and I've caught some of the same issues on pans.

like I said...must be the cam.

Is there a way to bring the camera back to factory default?

here is a video on vimeo that you can see quite some stuttering...

http://www.vimeo.com/groups/d90/videos/2477344

It happens in many places...one place in particularly that happens is at 00:01:14. If you can download the clip...it will be easier to look at it in a player and go frame by frame.

I just talked to a friend of mine who has almost the same set-up with different media cards. I was telling him my pains and he was making fun of me (in a brotherly way) saying..."you got a malfunctioning d90!" He was telling me he never has those isssues...to which I told him "you've never been looking for them"

He just called me and cursed me out...he is seeing the same issues on his footage. He had preferred when he was living in ignorance....

still not seeing it.

i think, don't have the camera in front of me, if you hold down the two buttons up top that have little green dots next to it at the same time for 10 seconds, will reset it back to default.
