DOC: "Leafy Road" Short Travel Film

Over the weekend I was on a corporate job in the Cotswolds, and ended up shooting a little travel video in the spare time that we had. The fact the car we where travelling around kept braking down made for an interesting little short film, so I thought I would edit the footage together into a...

I'm currently pre-planning a documentary film that I'm going to be shooting for one of my final film projects at university. I have decided I want to produce a documentary on the topic of bullfighting in Spain, a film that explores the dying tradition, whilst looking at why people still/don't...

    Gels for lighting Twilight scenes?

I lit a music video last week, and one of the setups called for lighting as if it was 'twilight'. I knew just using CTB to get the blue light of twilight wouldn't work, so I did some research and ended up buying some Lee Filters 161 Slate Blue. I used Slate Blue on some HMIs, and softened and...

Information on Ianiro red head lighting?

I just bought a red head light from a seller on BB list, got it for a really good price. It's not one of those Chinese models, it's an Ianiro. From my research I found that the Ianiro red heads were one of the best brands. I bought a Ianiro 650w Pulsar, I was wondering if anyone has any more...

    T3i portrait film

Heres a short film I recently shot using the T3i (600D), I mainly use vintage M42 lenses with my DSLR, as they are fairly cheap, and I think have a lot more character than EF glass. Obviously they aren't as sharp. I shared the video on another thread on DVXuser a couple months ago, just saw this...

Key framing motion to a motion tracked 2d image?

I'll try and keep this as simple as possible, I am new to AE and am struggling to do the things that I want to. I have motion tracked a 2d image to follow the Y axis of a video clip. The 2d image now moves up and down in sync to the movement in the video I now want to keyframe a horizontal...

    DOC: BMPCC Test Footage

Shot some test footage with the pocket camera over the weekend, edited a quick video together from some footage I got from Richmond Park. I used a 200mm lens and was surprised at how steady the shots are. Only downsides are the poor battery life with the BMPCC and terrible lcd screen.

My weekend filming with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera

I was able to have last weekend to film whatever I wanted with the Blackmagic Cinema Camera, I had booked it out from university. Really enjoyed shooting with it as the images it produces are just wonderful, however it almost felt like a toy to operate due to it being too simple to operate. I...

I'm doing a research project on technical developments and cinematography

Hi everyone. I'm doing a research project at university on the following question - How are developing technologies affecting the way a digital cinematographer works within the film industry, and are they making the job easier, or just complicating the creative process? Clapper / slate boarding tips?

I just wrote a blog post on my blog about how to use a clapper board. I spoke about the way I use a clapper board, the British way of slating. I want to include some quotes on the post with tips that other filmmakers have given for clapper loading. I was wondering if anyone has any tips related...

    Scriptwriting and story help needed

I am not very good at coming up with ideas for short films, I am good at the technical side of filmmaking, but today I decided to have a go at coming up with a storyline for a short film. It's going to be a silent film with just visual storytelling and a soundtrack. My basic idea is to have a...
