Hey all,
I just bought my first mic which was an MK012A thanks to all the great reviews and helpful information on this site.
I need some XLR cable to run into my DVX, on bhphoto star quad is $40 for 25ft which is kind of high, does anyone know of a viable alternative which is cheaper and...
When big Hollywood movies are shooting on sets or inside real locations like a house or office building, but using regular movie lights, how hot does it get temperature wise?
When I fool around with regular 100watt builb in my house it starts getting hot and I become sweaty. IN AC magazine they...
If you are editing footage would you prefer to have the data on an internal or external hard drive? Would the data transfer rate matter?
1. When the internal drive is SATA and the external is USB 2.0?
2. When the internal drive is SATA and the external is eSATA? same thing right?
Thanks, I...

The DP of fight club, said whenever you are doing a ramp you are out of sync with any crystal light sources like HMI, mnercury vapor, sodium vapor, which all these skyscrapers had built into them. He said they were shooting 120fps instead 24fps, with the speed change they got an...
I was looking to find information about buying copyrights for movie frames. For instance the posters they sell of Scarface. They put Scarface on all types of stuff, what do you have to do to get the right to use those images for your own product?
This is assuming they are copyright in the first...
Why do the sockets at home depot that they sell with a 2 outlet prong on the back allow 660watts, allowing for nice use to build lights, when the medium sockets in your normal house lamp will have a 75watt max or "150watt type A" or smaller? Is this just safety and the sockets are the same...
Since film needs more light to expose than video does (the DVX) is there a way to set the fstop or would you want to use ND filters, in order to make the dvx as sensitive as film stocks, to compare how much light film needs to how much video can shoot with, only in ballpark figures nothing exact...
Steven Soderbergh's Bubble was shot on Sony's Cinealta F950. He said no lighting was used and everything came from the sun or existing lamps with no bulb changes. There were actually two scenes he said where an extra light was added. I think the images on the standard dvd look great and the HD...

The Kish Director's Mini seems to be the best choice for a director's finder for me because it handles 1/3" video and 2/3" inch. For the price it is also a great deal once listed around $300 at filmtools.com, compared to great finders such as the Mark V at $700. I've searched quite a bit and...
Hey,
I am looking to begin editing on final cut pro but I have to purchase a mac computer first, I currently use a PC. I don't the budget to buy a 2500$ G5 mac nor do I think I need to, am I wrong? I intend to shoot and edit SD footage shot in 24pA, it'd be nice to have the ability to handle HD...
A Red One book and DVD or possibly DVD set which covers the Red One like Barry Green's incredible DVX Book and DVD.
This book could be even more extensive than the DVX book since it could be written by the creators of the camera. The book could have a suggestion guide for what parts to read...

But serisouly, this is not the most unique idea, nor the most unique idea contest. It is the best idea, for the best idea contest. :)
"In a word, people about whom there is no question."
Some degree of mw lasers, mounted on the Red One, after some testing,
which are calibrated to be inches out of the aspect range of what image is captured. This would be for the movement of the camera operator so they would not have to be looking at a small screen but rather the actual image...
Flip LCDs take very little space, this could be added on I believe.
Besides the story which is not camera related, nothing is more important I feel that lighting, image quality certainly is concered with that. The Red One has image resolustion under wraps so I think the greatest asset is a tool...
Built in light meter for the Red Onecamera to judge and use accuracte lighting under equivalent ISO ratings. Meter ratings (can) change as other controls/equipment is adjusted. Other meters can be inaccurate for video camera ratings so a meter built for Red One would be needed.
Is there any sites which have good explanations of different lighting "lingo" or could some experienced dvxusers break some of this down?
There are terms like far cycs, space lights, coops, dinos, maxis, sky pans, minis, quadlights, gators, coffin, bo bo lights, cones, obie lights, juniors...
