FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

You hit the nail on the head Doug. I've always been amused by people who have a heavy mattebox with no filters in it pimped to look good. I did once did have someone admit it was so he would look more professional. I told him a real professional would be very happy looking like an amateur if it...

sigma 50 af pumping on fx9

Had a weird experience last week. While shooting an interview overlooking a bright city background with the FX9 in Autofocus with the Sigma 50mm E mount lens in AF, I noticed the entire image pulsing in and out as if it was searching for the proper focus . Presumably the image size was pumping...

    Best battery powered daylight source

i'm looking for the best ( and that kind of means most powerful as long as the color is good) battery operated LED light mainly for exterior interviews. Would be great if it could run off my 98W V 14.5 V V mount batts. I figure it will probably be one of the COB lights made by Aperture...

    Repair corrupted A7siii file .RSV

I shot something on my A7siii yesterday and after removing the card the Camera asked me to reinsert to "Repair".I'm not sure if I did anything wrong when removing it - i.e maybe it was still recording, but i don't have any memory of that . At any rate i reinserted and assumed it was fixed but...

Longer lens or center crop FX9/FS7

I’m on an FX 9 and an FS7 and shooting a music concert that requires a long lens - up to 400 mm . It’s being shot in HD though. Does it make a difference whether I shoot with a rented sony 100-400 in S35 mode or say use my 18-200 in center crop or whatever its called on each camera - S16-2K on...

Does producer need to get the same camera all the time when traveling?

I've been shooting interviews for a doc on an FX9 (s-cinetone not log) that is very low budget but i like the subject and the producer so I'm giving her a very good deal. She has to travel and pick up some interviews on the road and has asked me how important it is that she get someone with the...

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

I found that on my FX9 my metabones Mark IV ( not speedbooster ) worked as well as the MC-11 for the 18-35 and seems to have pretty good AF. Also tried both adapters with the older V-1 tamron 24-70 f2.8 and neither adapter had decent AF, both had iris control as expected.

Yes - As I recall you need to re set the timeline to UHD before output for full resolution

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

If needed you edit with the proxies , but its important to change your timeline to 4K or whatever your originals are and then export from that for best resolution.

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

Must admit, comparing my experience to user reviews is an exercise in cognitive dissonance. Wish i could actually one of those that people say are super sharp. I don't understand how there could be that much difference between them.

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

people's experience varies only because Sony does a notoriously bad job of setting those lenses up both before purchase and even after repairs. If your's isn't parfocal ( and my experience is close to 50% are not ) i9t should be sent to Sony for correction and don't take their crap when they...

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

No i never shoot 2K . I've been comparing in UHD S35 and even putting the 28-135 in FF. Well one of the 3 was screwed up but the other 2 seem fine. maybe I just need to try another. Have you directly compared the 18-110 to the 28-135 - same shot same settings at f4 . I'll post some stills.

FX6: The Sony ILME-FX6V Owners Club

Have you seen a difference between the IQ of the 2 lenses. I switched from FS7 to FX9 and logically should switch from 18-110 to 28-135. Everyone seems to love the 28-135, but my tests consistently show its a little softer . I've seen 3 so far . You need to look carefully though and push-in in...
