I just found an AG-456 in mint condition in the back of an equipment closet. Anyone have any experience with these? How would you compare the picture quality to the AG-HPX370? Battle of the Panasonic shouldermounts!
OK, this week is the first time I'm using the AC130 for a full theatrical production with complex lighting... and I'm loving it! The resolution is such a huge jump from the HVX/HMC! But most importantly, the light handling - DRS! - is incredible. For a show that would have me needing to...

It seems like much of this upgrade has to do with focus issues… personally I think this is an elegant way for Panny to address some of the disappointment with autofocus without necessarily saying that it was flawed in the current cams. Bravo, Panasonic!
Literally, in the last week, I've had three people who I recommended DVXUser to as a place for info on the AC series tell me that there is no forum there for the AC130/160. This is ridiculous. If you must, lump them in with the HPX250, 'cause most of the discussion on all three cams has to do...
Lately I've been experiencing a lot of errors while formatting SDHC cards in my AC130. I've never had an error once a card is formatted, and I've seen no errors or problems using the same cards in the HMC150, or in torture-testing them via a computer. The same card will sometimes format after a...
Greetings! Another post about the reorganization - but I think this should go back under filmmaking, or at least another one dealing with audio technique should go there. Much of the discussion in this forum has been audio technique, and most gear discussions resolve to "learn better...
Maybe I'm wrong, but as a current major Panasonic prosumer camera line and very active forum, I think the AC130/160 should not be a sub-forum of "Other Panasonic Cameras"... it should have equal standing with the HVX, DVX, AF100, HMC, etc.
Well, maybe not everyone's... I've often said I'm probably the only one who ever used HE mode on the HMC... but AC130 firmware 1.11, announced today, says "Stability of process in HE mode has been improved."
I'm happy... anyone else care?
Again, yes, it really depends on the camera and the material. In my experience, closeups fare a lot better than wide shots when enlarging. Basically, you kinda have to judge shot-by-shot, which is why the good monitoring suggested above is a good idea. In addition to earlier suggestions...
OK, finally got my AC130... not much to film yet, and haven't looked at footage... but a few questions that I was eager to see answered, have now been answered. Also... immediate impressions:
1) The camera is big, but indeed feels a little lighter and more plasticky than the HVX or HMC. A few...

First of all, any reason why you don't adjust your iris as you go? It's kind of essential for any interesting stage lighting
Next, I wouldn't use Cine-V. I'd use Cine-D, but only if you'll be riding the iris. Blown highlights are ugliest on Cine-D. If you can avoid them by...
Any 130/160 owners willing to volunteer for a camera test, shooting an opera at USC? This Thursday-Saturday at 8pm, or Sunday at 2pm... I'm looking primarily to evaluate the 160/130 as a wide-shot camera for theatrical productions, to see how much more I can manipulate it in post than the...
I'm not thinking of using this as a high-quality recorder, so lets not start on that discussion... I'm just finding it hard to find information on what the audio-editing capabilities of iphone Garageband really are, and how easy they are to use. Again, not necessarily for real work... just for...
OK, I know it's not really in the spirit of your nice ranty thread, but hey, this is the cafe.
I find your analogy a bit exaggerated. Why choose Formula 1? I mean, you say Formula Ford instead of Formula 1, and that's a reasonable question I've heard many times. I don't think most people you...
Greetings!
I'm hoping to sell my HMC150 in excellent condition, in original box, all accessories, plus a high-quality UV filter (will check exact model ASAP) and possibly an additional Tiffen effects filter set. Price: $2395.
