It's: 30x20x17cm at least (preferably I would need some sort of hardshell in those dimensions) in a backpack-compartment. Other stuff I need to transport: dslr, 2 lensen, accessories, gorillapod and tripod. How knows a pack? I have a kata 103, but it only has room for the dslr stuff.

I drop all my video files in a folder on my hd on my desktop on my iMac. Should I back up those over time machine? And are there any alternatives for a LaCie d2 Quadra Hard Disk (around 250$). I also wan't to use it for editing afterwards. Should I go for a Raid (2-big Quadra 2TB) directly?

Shouldn't it be possible to make a .mov in the H.264-Codec of my edited file, copy that file to the card and to view it on my 550D? I could use this as a guide for sound-recording. The actor just has to copy the movements of the footsteps, etc.
