Hi!
I was also busy experimenting with optimal 720p50 patches. My experience is that 47Mbit B-frame patch with stock GOP is about the best I could get. As I used stock GOP + B-frames (as efficient as AVCHD can be), codec can put more bits into encoding I-frames.
This is output from...
GH2 hack is still "in progress". For us who live in PAL-istan and need something better than plain vanilla 17Mbit IpppppIpppp 720p50 and need it now, here is a patch I worked out by experimenting with different switches:
Output:
720p50, approximately 34Mbit/s

Hi!
In order to open Canon H.264 .MOV-files in VirtualDub, use this plugin:
http://www.tateu.net/software/dl.php?f=qtvd_bin
It's a ZIP-file containing the plugin itself and settings file. Plugin has .vdplugin extension and should be placed into "plugin" folder of VDub. The settings file is...
You would want to interpolate chroma to 4:2:2 before keying in order to avoid 2x2 pixel blocky edges. See the red floating vest in picture. The same happens to green screen. 550D uses 4:2:0 codec which means that the dividing edge between your subject and green screen will be 2x2 "stairway". You...
I own both.
This is a crop from 1080p25 frame shot with GH13 and 550D. Both were framed approximately the same and I shot it with kit lenses. I re-did the tests with multitude of lenses and motives and came to conclusion that 550D/7D/5D is great camera as bokeh-galore base for 720p-ish soft...
Hello gang!
I just purchased a GH1 to go along my 550D. I applied firmware patch to GH1 and took both both cameras out for some testing.
GH1 is so much better it's not even funny...I used kit lenses on both cameras and zoomed so I framed approximately same area. And yes, I double-checked that...
Gentleman,
I experimented with conversion of 550D 4:2:0 file into RGB raw with smooth chroma channel. I believe that I found the way to convert H264 DSLR 4:2:0 chroma files into RGB 4:4:4 uncompressed files by using free software. This workflow will also interpolate chroma into 4:2:4 colour...
To whom it may concern:
Raw .MOV files cannot be played in majority of media players, despite being h.264 files which are supported by players. It seems that H264 content is readable by media players but .MOV wrapper cannot be read.
I found a way to demultiplex the files (without transcoding...
