free cs3 vs paid cs5. Help please.

Hey you guys. In my hands I have a free copy of cs3 to install, however, obviously it's an older version since the release of cs5. I'm wondering if i should install it or should I purchase cs5? How much difference is there between the two? I mean can cs3 hold on its own? or is it really worth it...
