Whoohoo! Herofest! Who's In?

So ZOMBIEFEST and SCIFEST DID'NT FADE YOU

BUT HEROFEST is ............................................... ?
Yeah . . . I know this is a popular genre, I just never got into it. I have never gone to the theater to see a single superhero movie. I really liked Sin City, so, I guess it's not the comic book, er, graphic novel genre I don't like--it's the superhero element I don't like, I guess. I don't mean to be a whiner, and I know a lot of you are really excited about this selection. For example, I was really excited about V for Vendetta, since I like sci-fi a lot (and who doesn't like looking at Natalie Portman?), especially negative utopia stories, but then I found out it had a comic book character and I lost all interest.

I dig it

The genre is fairly wide open

Superman
Batman
XMEN
Fantastic 4
Hulk
Spawn
Blade
Flash
Wonder Chick
Thor
Silver Surfer (Yeah baby!)
Spidey
Zorro
Darkman
Hellboy
Unbreakable
Rocketeer
Flash Gordon

Man the list is so open on genres

I'm guessing barry and jarred won't allow us to do previously created superheroes because there'sa risk of copyright enfringement... but we can sure as hell copy them :)

Luv the sig !

Always respect copywrite !

No can do bro. You can't promote your film before the fest and I'm sure you can come up with something new. The plug hadda go.

Oh dang. I already made a SUPERHEROES web series, 5 episodes, total series runtime 1 hour 12 minutes. Check it out here, PLUG!

I smell SEQUEL!! I'm in.

Okay?

I wasn't promoting. I was just sayin' that I already made something superhero-related, so I'm definitely game for this.

Thanks john!

Yeah, I didn't mean copy as in "steal their powers and name and costume" but more of like emulating their stories... I think I worded that wrong. lol

I'M IN!

Get my name on that list Briceman

"briceman" ... sounds like a superhero name right there...

If I can find a DVX I'll enter the competition, if not I'll do something for exhebition only.

You got it man!!

I'm still hoping for Sci-fest 2, so I can do my original script. FINALLY, the drama is over in my personal life (as of about four hours ago).

This will be a challenge -- mostly because I freakin' HATE superheroes.

I predict people running around in long underwear and capes, bad flying greenscreening, and people "walking" up walls (which amazingly look like floors shot at 90 degrees with a light switch stuck to it). Oh, and LOTS of Adobe-brand lightning shooting out of people's hands.

Sign me up! :)

Why's all this talk about Super Heros? This isn't called Superhero Fest, it's called Hero Fest.

To me, I think it would open it up even more if the theme was simply heros (see my sig for example), as I'm sure people would LOVE to take this opportunity to honor war veterans, policemen in the line of duty, firemen, doctors who went beyond the call of duty to save someone, etc.

I mean, there could be some INCREDIBLY compelling stories ... especially if the people that wouldn't normally enter because they don't dig Superheros, got in on it (i.e NBC Shooter).

Hopefully it's defined soon what a hero is, but in my mind it could be just about anything/anyone ... more of the selfless act itself. As such, I think this will blow the doors off of Zombie Fest ... and may be an incredibly uplifting & memorable event.

All that said ... am I in? Don't know. I'll have to converse with waltind.

Well, the announcement says "Super Hero Fest".

It would be great if it's just "Hero" -- a lot more potential for great stories.

What's the word? Is it "Hero" or "Superhero"?

Yeah, I hear ya. I tried to be as tactful as I could in my earlier post since Jarred and Barry S work so hard to make these contests happen for us. But I really do hate superheroes as well. I mean, I can't stand 'em! Even as a kid, I never owned one superhero comic book. I've got kind of an idea in my head about what I wanna do--I just don't know if my protagonist will be "super" enough of a hero. I like Envision's "hero" idea a lot, but I don't know if that will wash with powers that be here.

Love your new sig, by the way, Envision!

i´m in...and i really like hudsons idea with posters and a little promotion BEFORE we see the movies...not only is it more exciting, but it´s also a big part of the whole process: selling the damn thing...i´m not talking about threads and xxx-posts just 1 poster & your tagline...
