List of cameras that can record RAW internally

I would think it's probably more beneficial if you regularly miss your white balance and exposure by a large margin

FWIW, I've found that even a solid internal codec is fine in many of these cases.

We did some testing with our work Panasonic S1H's and found that you could totally miss WB and still pull it back to a good image. I'm talking like shooting at 2000 or 10000 Kelvin in a room that's lit with 6000K bulbs or florescent lights. With a color chart and Davinci Resolve the shots looked totally fine.

Exposure is probably a little less forgiving, especially if you've put a bunch of details too far into the shadows or highlights.

As far as WB, I have the same experience with ProRes...drastic shifts work - although I don't do this frequently to know when it may not - and usually just need to add tint one way or the other.

I came across this quote recently: “The single most important component of a camera is the twelve inches behind it.” - Ansel Adams

Exposure might be a little less forgiving, but still very malleable if you're shooting LOG. I had a student accidentally expose an outdoor interview 4 stops over with my FS7 (S-LOG3 / XAVC-I), but we were able to grade it back to look pretty close to normal. So good, in fact, I now use that footage in my Resolve demos.

Are you shooting with your ding dong up to the viewfinder? That might explain why your exposures are off

i mean, it’s not really up, but yeah. i thought that was shooting RAW.

Hmm, i guess street photography isn’t all that illegal, and i’ve just been doing it wrong.

Phantom flex shoots 4k raw.

i come from stills and shoot 55k all the time or 32k rarely. Never click wb or awb.

i think its simplest to do your post from a specific point rather than constantly donking wb in camera
and shoot grey or colour cards

as for exposure - if you can pull it back - it wasnt over exposed.

overall i shoot c200 raw in the main - and see it as more solid than fs7 log - but only by a margin

im a nut for rgb scopes as my exposure tool

im grip on a feature now and the exposure is constantly under - it will be noisy - 3 red cams

With the f55 - i had arguments in the early days with ali chap as it was not clear the affect of iso changes on the raw file and metering tools

certain iso biost on the early red cams would change the meter, screen and meta data but not the file

broad minded investigation of the camera raw implementation is important

I’ve noticed some cameras adding gain even in raw for iso?

The Fs5 did this. It would also vary the output based on whether you were shooting in slog2 or 3, if I recall correctly. So clearly there was processing happening to the "raw" data before it was being sent out.

Yeah, if doing logarithmic mapping to 12bit, it will change things, vs trying to stick with linear 14 or 16bit. and how that is mapped would define the mid point.

What's there to argue about? ISO changes (techncially called EI changes) on the F55 never affect the RAW file and only make a difference to the metering tools if a monitor LUT is being used. No need to argue when there are verifiable facts.

Well i agree with you.. but the “expert” did not.

but that does not explain of the wfm or other tools are showing you

-the file
-the file with ei
- the file with ei and or lut

Ha, ha! That does not surprise me one bit. Thanks for clarifying who was arguing on which side.

As for the rest of your post, I have no idea what it means. Sometimes I can translate SMM into normal English sentence structure and sometime I am at a loss.
