Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Hey Barry,

Just wanted to find out if I purchase the book today if it will ship same day. It says it could take up to 7 days and was wondering what your turn time is right now.

Thanks!

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Thanks for the tip on abelcine.com, I just ordered through them as I no longer deal with Paypal. Time to get on amazon! ;)

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

All orders are currently shipping within 24 hours. Depending on what other jobs I get, that can delay shipping somewhat, but right now we're keeping to same-day/next-day shipping.

I'll look into getting listed on Amazon.

Could I pay...?

Could I pay...?

Could I order book and send money via bank transfer to Fiercely Independent Films, Inc. account?
Thanks!

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

BARRY! YOU GO, BOY!!!!

Just got my copy of Film and Video magazine in the mail yesterday. There on the back cover is an add for the DVX100a. In small print at the bottom it reads,
"Magic Bullet Editors software and Barry Green's The DVX Book and DVD free with purchase.*"
The asterisk just points to a note stating you have to buy via an authorized Panny dealer. Fantastic to see the 100a shiping with such great tools! Only wish this book was included when I purchased my 100a! Gald I have it anyway. Great book, great so see Panny including it. Ya done good, kid! If you were here in New Orleans I'd take to to a parade tonight and buy you a drink (or two)!

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Would I get much benefit from ordering this book now, even though I won't be buying my DVX until near the end of the year?

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

If you're almost a year away from getting the camera, I don't know how much benefit you'd get from getting the book/DVD now... I mean, it's full of good info, but without the ability to use the camera to apply the knowledge, it might not help you as much. Not that I want to dissuade you from buying it, of course, just trying to answer the question you asked. Plus, if you buy the camera later, you'll get a copy of the book&dvd included with the camera.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Alternate ways to get The DVX Book and DVD: several people have asked if there are other ways to get the book, since they may perhaps not want to use Paypal, or have difficulty using paypal from a country other than the US, or want to pick it up at a retail store. I'm expanding the ways you can get it as best I can. Currently, the primary ways to order the book/DVD are:

Here on DVXUser, at http://www.dvxuser.com/articles/dvxbook/

For in-store purchases in NYC, or for internet ordering using other than paypal, you can get it at Abel Cine Tech, http://www.mediumblend.com/abelstore/customer/product.php?productid=581&cat=67&page=1

Also available on Amazon, at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0007P8KE6/103-6565673-1477436. Ordering through DVXUser helps support the site here, but if you don't want to use Paypal (or can't), Amazon is a good way to go.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Very good news, Barry!
Amazon.com for international credit card holders like me is one of the best alternate ways to get the DVX Book & DVD... and you know why I do mean this. Thank you very much for your great effort on our behalf! 8)
DVXUser Site will "always" have our support in other ways.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

I just want to say again how much I'm enjoying the book. I'm actually amazed at how much information you have in the book and how well the material is explained. Have you considered adding a section on filters and matte boxes for the DVX? I know that you can change the settings or use magic bullet in post to achieve certain looks but it seems to me some illustrations on the use of a matte box and filters would be useful. Better yet...how about posting an article on this forum.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Quick question Barry:
We’ve just bought our second DVX from B&H and we got the Magic Bullet software but not your book.

Was it supposed to come with or I'm just mixing channels here?

Thanks,

Alex.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

It should have come with it. Definitely ask them about it, if they don't know, then ask Jan. If you bought it in January or February, it should be included and you're entitled to a free copy.

dstone: thanks! I haven't considered doing a mattebox/filter thing yet, mainly because Jarred already has the filter DVD, and I have five new DVD projects percolating already... but I'll add that to the list of things to think about! :)

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Also, Abel Cine's Los Angeles store is now stocking the book. So if someone in either NY or LA needs it in a hurry and wants to be able to walk into a store and pick it up, you can get it at Abel Cine's stores on both coasts.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

Barry,

Just ordered the book from Amazon. Just to echo CinemaElectronika, thank you for the effort of listing it there - it makes things easier for us internationals.

Can't wait to receive it. Any chance you could let me know when it ships?

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

FYI: I have the same problem alexdias had. I ordered from B&H (last week), got the camera , got the "Magic Bullets", but did NOT get the book. I am very disappointed.

I asked B&H and they said if it isn't listed as an included item on their web page - it wasn't included. I should contact Panasonic.

I told them that there was no mention of "Magic Bullets" and that was included. Again, they said contact Panasonic.

So, next I'll try to get a hold of Jan.

Re: Barry's Ultimate DVD guide/book available

I just ordered the book. It's what I've been looking for. However I'm shooting a presentation tape on Thursday in 24p. I read the postings, but what are some of the major points i need to watch out for concerning movement and not getting the stobe effect?

Also, I'm cutting FCP and hints?

Thanks, PZ
