External monitor for 5DmkII ?

The 5dmkII has a HMDI output, but unfortunately it reverts to VGA resolution while recording. Not enough horsepower to record, compress, and output full-resolution at the same time.

cinema5d.. where most of the posts are speculation from before the camera was released

any current info/experience/links welcome..

I know it works with my SD steadicam pilot monitor - by you cant focus without zooming (ie prefocus check only)

Yes I'll check out the 5D forum!

The reason I was asking is because I get these emails from Digital Juice. Right now they have a special where they are selling the ikan V8000HDe for $545, normally $795 it says...

So even though the hdmi downconverts slightly, would the workflow be getting the ikan, and finding an HDMI to component cable and hoping for good resolution still?

Looks good in terms of price compared to the Marshall and iKan but $150 for a battery seems steep.

I would rather spend $150 on a battery set-up that last hours and I can use it for just about everything, than batteries for $75 that only work for my monitor and nothing else (and don't last as long).

I traveled last year with the Ikan and shot with the Canon XH-A1. Ikan was sony batteries, which I had two, but that was all they supported.

I didn't know much about that battery. You can use it to power other things? How?

I am using the Totevision 703HD via HDMI (adapter from HDMI to DVI necessary).
For me its absolutly Ok for 1. focussing, 2.contrast and 3.colour (so lala)
