Has anyone else noticed that the Canon XHA1 LCD screen and viewfinder are about 1-1.5 stops brighter than the actual footage when it gets onto the computer? I spent about 35 hours on set this weekend and the footage looked beautiful, but last night when I was uploading it, it was too dark and kind of muddy looking, where as looking right at the LCD screen I saw the beautiful footage I thought I shot.

Anyone else have this experience? Oh, and the LCD's brightness was set right in the middle.

I have had this experience as well. I tend to assume that the footage will always look darker on the display, and compensate accordingly.

It depends on your viewing angle as well. Don't underestimate the power of using Zebra and the exposure meter in the top left corner.

Was the LCD set up properly? I always check the LCD display with color bars to at least get the brightness close to correct. With the XHA1 LCD just being a few degrees off the viewing angle makes a huge difference.
