Merry Xmas ALL

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all and thanks to those with more knowledge than I as to how "X" came to replace Christ in some instances. Had no clue. Always learn something new on these boards.

I guess we all learn something new each day because I always thought the X was used in a similar fashion to the way it is used in railroad signs (symbolising a CROSSING, or CRISS-cross) and, due to massive laziness, people are always looking for a way to use short hand.
