Hi folks,

me again OK the ExpoCap was not a good idea but what about this company for the ground glass they will custom make each piece so again I was thinking of a round piece to fit in a filter ring, it would make the whole construction easier to make.

They are selling a 4" x 5" for $15 whats your thoughts, on this could this work, I have asked them by email what the cost would be to make a circular piece 2mm thick and 62mm dia to fall into a filter riing.

Maybe it would be clever to find PCX lens of that diameter and ask them to grind it for you, therefore you can avoid possibility of "hotspot" problem..

Another members of this forum would have more experience about, where and which PCX to buy..

I have used acid etched glass before and can say that it is very grainy. I contemplated using this, but the waiting list is very long, as they hand-make every piece. The very best thing I have used as a diffuser in terms of light loss and quality is a Canon EE-A focusing screen. They sell them at www.bhphotovideo.com You don't have to use a PCX lens with this if your cam is at a proper distance. There is no vignetting.

I have ordered 5 pieces from Satin Snow 40mm 30mm 2mm $7.95 each so not bad and worth giving it a go. said should take 2 weeks so will post results when I get them
