Log and Transfer directly from HVX?

Are there any drawbacks to logging and transferring directly from the HVX? My laptop isn't working out at the moment so this using the HVX on my Mac Pro seems like a good solution...any thoughts?
Thanks!

Since the HVX200 mounts as a drive, it should be able to work with the log and transfer directly though I'm not 100% sure. DVFilm Raylight for Mac can read and work right off the HVX200 so I don't see why log and transfer wouldn't work.

It is always good to back up your data to a harddrive though so if something fails you won't lose your footage.

It works. I do it for practice footage everyday since I am still learning the HVX. I would back it up twice if you are doing anything important. I just connect the HVX, Open a FCP project, go to log and transfer, Drag the footage to the box, and the clips get imported. I use P2CMS as well for important stuff just be safe though. Not sure if it is the right way but it does work.

Why not copy the p2 volume while write protected to your MacPro media drive, and ingest there? That minimizes the whole FW connection

Yeah this way you get no backup of the original media on the P2 card- only the .MOV ingests. Also the USB connection from the camera is really slow on the Mac. Not to mention you're tying up the camera all the while. I'd suggest something that reads the cards separately such as the Duel adaptor or an old Powerbook with a PCMCIA slot.
