shooting a fake news broadcast

I'm planning to incorporate a fake news broadcast in a movie i'm shooting. I'll be shooting the film in 1080/24f but for this broadcast, stylistically it would make sense to shoot 60i. Does anyone have any thoughts on how the 60i would lookin a 24p timeline? Or suggestions on how i should go about this from a technical standpoint?

this may sound convoluted, but some people who don't want 60i footage in their 24p film is to shoot the "news" in 60i and burn it to dvd, and film it playing on your TV screen...but that only works if you're actors are scripted to have a TV on at the location, know what i mean?...so the result wont look 60i in your film, and filming a TV to get the news in your film is a classic move.

Ya definitely. I was thinking that the scene would be part tv screens and part actual footage in the timeline.

The thing i'm worried about shooting a tv screen is flickering. the 2:3:3:2 pulldown creates a flickering effect when shooting TV's or strobe lights. I guess the tv flickering could be fixed by shooting 24f 1/60 shutter? I haven't experimented with this so I have no idea.

I've had great results with 60i and a modest amount of added scanline from genarts sapphire for this. Helps wonders mixing it in as video when shooting video and calling it film.

funny i am shooting a film with a news broadcast as well... my plan is to shoot it in the highest quality, but at 29.97 (without the 35mm adaptor of course) and it will be displayed on HDTVs in the film... I can't really say more yet without totally giving away the premise of the film

If I were going your route, I would do what skinny said and film it, then rebroadcast it onto a TV later...

It will work in an FCP timeline, just will need to be rendered. Good luck, and lets see some footage when you get some!
