I am going to have to jump in and say the red cams are professional cams and not consumer cameras. HD prosumer cameras start around $4500 so if red wants to come out with a better than what we have now prosumer camera for 7k-10k after all the extras what is wrong with that? These video cameras are not for hv20 owners like me, but they are going after hvx200 market we are talking $5500 cameras that only have native 720p chips! So I agree I would like a $3000 scarlet next month, but geez these cameras are way better in a lot of ways than what is available now. The major players in the video market would have nickel and dimed us to death.
With all that said if Nikon releases a 1080p24/30 slr for under $3000 with some better manual features, less compression, reduced jello vision I am all over it.
