FCP not giving the option to Import Panasonic P2

Am i doing something wrong?

I install the drivers from Panasonic's website, including the P2 drivers, P2 reader, P2 manager the lot, and i can see my shot footage and files in the P2 Manager, however when i open up Final Cut (v 6.0.2), under File/Import there is no option to import P2 and i can't really see any other method of getting it in there.

Is there an issue with drivers? is there software I'm still missing or is FCP just playing dumb with me?

Any help on this would be great.

It's no more "import" now it's called "Log and Transfer" in the File menu.

As Steve points out, this changed in FCP 6.0.2 I believe.

yea that took me several days to figure out... log and transfer never occurred to me.

That's nice to know. I just bought an HVX and it was driving me crazy that I didn't get the "import P2" option in FCP. I did figure out that "Log and Transfer" worked but never put it together that they were one and the same.

It's in the release notes.

I always copy those to the desktop and keep them handy

Yeah it happened probably because with more and more new formats it makes a lot more sense to consolidate them all within Log and Transfer rather than each a separate item under the Import dialog.

my mxf files dpes not apear even in log and transfer....

so , i use FS100 and shoot quicktime files..them just import the files to fcp...but ,why am i not able to log and transfer the mxf??

fcp just can´t see the files.

Are you using FCP 6.04?

Marco.L,

You should "organize P2", than transfer from the Firestore to an external hard drive connected to your computer and than "log and transfer" into Final Cut.
