I wanted to comment on this movie, but there's no thread???

So here it is, until Mobiledeli starts one.

----------------------

my review---

it starts of with thunder. Awesome. I love it.

It's got REAL violins playing music. I love it even more.

The ball is central to the story. Excellent.

There's no dialog. None needed, the story comes across visually without a question.

The cinematography is really fantastic. Camera movement, lighting. (Although the aspect ratio is off on the file. Once you change it to 480x289 it looks much better)

Look at those shadows of the railings on the stairs! Great location.

A beautiful Twilight love story.

Congrats mobiledeli, whoever you are. Take some well deserved credit for this fine piece of work.

Yeehaanow - Thanks for have open this thread.
I enjoyed this film. It was very sweet and melanchonic. The first scene when he is going up stairs has a nice framing to the banisters. The story was so simple, but worked very well. The acting of the lead was very good and natural. The balls which fallen in love was very kitschy, but they fit very well the end. Thank you for have put it in this fest! :)

Alright, this was great! Right from the opening dolly/pan/dolly.

Really nice lighting and general cinematography throughout.

Very sweet movie.
I hope more people catch this one.

Cheers,

Mike

I actually really liked this too!

The end didn't shatter me but it was certainly different and for some reason I thought of castaway when I was watching. Im sure the ball was called wilson.

I think it was meant to be funny too? no? Well it had me smiling.

I loved the shot where the door creaks open for the camera! Nice quirky moment that shows that the film itself is a character in the telling of the story. The black and white is excellent and the music is well done. The story was a little too art house cute for me, but that's just me. Good work!

*SPOILERS*

Very well done. I thought the camera work was very Twilight Zone looking. I liked the story, certainly influenced by Wilson in Castaway, but I like the original idea that this ball played matchmaker to a lonely man. (BTW wasn't that Wally Bally? I'm sure I recognized him... I'm happy to see he's turned over a new leaf. :)

The only part I didn't like is when you panned down to the two balls together at the end, DEAD CENTER IN THE SHOT! Everything else up until then had been so subtle, but that last reveal was way too "on the nose." As you panned down I was hoping to see the ball off to the side, half in shadow. If you wanted to show that he had found his own soul mate, again, at least put them off to the side.

My two cents. Great job.

Nice! I don't really see how it fits the TwilightFest theme...but it was a cute story. Loved the opening shot. Wait, he just stole some kids ball! Weird, artsy slient film. Moved a bit slow for me. WOW...that chick in the end was easy.

Nice job on the film.

Nice! I don't really see how it fits the TwilightFest theme...

SPOILER FOR ANTI DE PRESENCE AND B'ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE

Well, as I get it, there's not much difference between this one and Anti de Presence. Just, here are balls, there are dolls. (lol, it rhymes) Basicaly, he and she are the balls who just got up together somehow. The peoples here are just metaphorical by that matter. At least that's how I see it.

END SPOILER

This movie itself is really nice, maybe somewhat too slow. Credits here goes to music, it is perfect for this film, just perfect.
Everything is pretty much ok, just at the end he meets the girl without the coat, then they are going out and he got the coat on itself. It is logical to presume he went back to apartment and wear the coat, but somehow that doesn't fit for me.

As i said, I interpret this story my way, otherwise, it really doesn't have much to do with twilight theme...

I enjoyed this short as well! Similar vein as "Work of Art" although much more indirect.
I can dig that. I was not very keen on the balls sitting together, but I understand the point.
The location contains interesting architecture; the hallway is pretty narrow!

Nice work mobiledeli!

First thing you need is a new title. Not nearly as elegant as the film.

Love the black blacks - like a play on the ink.

I have not watched all teh films yet, but this one sure made great use of the ball. Twilight feels a little week.

Love the location. They really made halls that narrow?

Nice shadows of the intricated metalwork on the walls. Very artsy!

Couldn't halp but think Tom Hanks here.

The ending felt a little rushed. I would have liked to see more leading up to him meeting the girl.

Why didn't they go back up the stairs? Going to her place?

Really enjoyed the BW qualities.

Hey,

Just caught the flick. Very intritgued. The opening is spectacular. Really liked the camera movements and the lighting. Very nice indeed. I also thought you did a fine job telling the story without any dialogue. And I really enjoyed the quirky nature of this. Music was well done as well. Nice work there too.

The thing that I found hard to identify with in this piece is the main character. He SEEMS antisocial? As far as the narrative is concerned, I think all we get is that he's someone who doesn't have a significant other. And in the end, he gets one. I think what I needed from this character is some kind of flaw, something debilitating that KEEPS him from getting a girl. If he does in this piece, I don't think it comes across as such. And the resolution maybe needed him getting over that flaw or however you would do it to make that the reason he's able to meet the girl. Fas as I can tell, he's not very proactive, which doesn't (in my mind) make him someone who would resort to the ball rather than seeking human contact.

But those are my 2 sense. But I enjoyed it and thought it was quite fun. Thanks for sharing.

Great Look. Love the push in on the couple making around 55:00 and the lighting. Appreciate the care and feeling that went into this. Agree on the title. it's kind of a joke and the film rightly takes itself pretty seriously.

good story.

story is good too, takes a little bit of time to get there though. great music too!
