Sleep Walk - a Dustin Rogan film

**SPOILERS**

Pauly was great! So subtle, and the acting in general I thought was very good. The lighting was good, and I liked the effect when they looked in the box.

Overall, a good flow. I followed the story, but not exactly sure about the "why".

I always enjoy your stuff, and this notched it up a few levels. Congrats!

Dustin...classic Rogan. Bad jokes and obnoxious characters...LOVE it man! (Earnhart & pirates) Now, that's one scary box...and believe me...I've seen my share of scary boxes This was a really entertaining flick with a good score. Great job.

By the way...next time fix the BB gun thing or don't look down the barrel.

This was fun! I really enjoyed it.

I liked the bar lighting, although some of it was too bright - the main characters were bright bright bright, compared to the rest of the location. Great acting by the two box-holders, all of their lines were delivered just fine. I didn't like the two other characters, very wooden lines, and they didn't look the part - the younger guy with the strange facial hair looked like he had a grudge with the world, ha.

Love how you didn't show us what's in the box. We don't need to know.

Thanks for watching guys!

Though I'm not sure who Pauly is...do you think that was Pauly the hitman from the thread? Its not. His name is Thaine Odom from Oklahoma City.

I tried to bring a bit of the Rogan humor in the script glad everyone likes the funny.

Oh, yes I thought it was Pauly the hitman. My bad for not checking. He was great anyway.

If Pauly he'd be a crazy man cuz i believe he already has 5 films he's worked on for this fest...though I wouldn't have turned him down :D

Rogan

I have to know... was that a dolly track in the reflection of his glasses at the end? Or a weird crosswalk? :)

Good stuff! I always enjoy the writing in your films. The acting was also quite good. Liked the two gun toting guys. :)

I'm glad that you entered something this fest, I was looking forward to it.
I think I prefer your more comedic side, but it was still good.

Cheers,

Mike

hmm I think everyone likes funny Rogan. Hint taken guys. lol... I'll see what I can cook up for next fest.

Thanks everyone for watching!

your pay pal accounts will be 37¢ richer for 10 stars...oh wait did i type that out...umm...(waves hand in front of monitor all jedi like) "There is nothing here moderator of DVX...nothing to see, nothing at all"...(Rogan quickily exits stage left)

hey i just found 37cents in my paypal account! Sweet! dude!

I still gotta give my review... my UNBIASED review. Muhahahahaha.

Nice work Rogan. Like gabrielflorit said, we don't need to know what's in the box. Although, if I wanted to get all deep and philisophical I could say it was either some device or element that put them in an actual trance, or that the box was full of money or dubloons and the trance that you displayed on film was a metaphor for the manifestation of greed.

Anyway, enough of that. Good production values and nice writing. Actors did fine. Really have no problems with your entry. I enjoyed it . Good job!

I am still wondering if in fact it is the Rogan Arse and if the effects of Rogans Arse is in the box and thats what made them do it all? I think you should have named that hitman Pauly cause he looks like my f#$@ing long lost twin brother. Anyway this one made me laugh not sure if it was supposed to but it did.
Pauly

Hi Dustin,

I enjoyed your film, it was very funny, but done in a serious way. I like the face expression of your younger lead character. It seemed so naive to me, exactly how it needed to be for his role. Compliments!

Dustin:

Nice work. I was excited to see if he would should at the end or not, it was very suspenseful. I like the camerawork on images of the box. I think the casting is a little weak and it's a complicated script to pull of convincingly.

Nice job.

Aim session. Sleep walk.

Aim session. Sleep walk.

Carrying on the tradition from Timefest, the AIM sessions have returned, a live stream of whatever may come out of our heads as we watch your films. Here are Ben Sliker and Brad Mate's thoughts on "SLEEP WALK."

9:24:40 PM Ben Sliker: i thought it was ok
9:25:22 PM Ben Sliker: i bet this guy has heard of the brown tie
9:25:26 PM Ben Sliker: or the houdini
9:25:44 PM Ben Sliker: but he apparently just likes beating women after sexual favors
9:26:04 PM Ben Sliker: don't look in the box man
9:26:06 PM Brad Mate: just call him dp, short for donkey punch you get it? or d to the p, or king donko of punchstania
9:26:25 PM Ben Sliker: Brad Pitt thought he wanted to see what was in the box too
9:26:31 PM Ben Sliker: we all know how that worked out.
9:27:02 PM Ben Sliker: apparently the box makes you use the "strobe" filter in FCP
9:27:18 PM Ben Sliker: OH THEY SET THEM UP
9:27:27 PM Ben Sliker: ITS LIKE A SECRET WEAPON
9:27:31 PM Ben Sliker: TRICKY BASTARDS
9:27:36 PM Brad Mate: i c what they did thar
9:27:53 PM Ben Sliker: you know what they could have done?
9:28:01 PM Ben Sliker: set him up in a hotel room
9:28:09 PM Ben Sliker: and made him think he just killed someone
9:28:16 PM Ben Sliker: but then there's a bomb under his bed
9:28:31 PM Ben Sliker: and then call it "REFILL"
9:28:34 PM Brad Mate: what a lame poo pooing idea
9:28:36 PM Ben Sliker: for no apparent reason.
9:28:44 PM Ben Sliker: yeah, you're right.
9:29:26 PM Ben Sliker: i don't know, that was pretty rough.
9:29:51 PM Ben Sliker: not a big fan of the in-car angles
9:29:57 PM Ben Sliker: or the blow-job jokes
9:31:05 PM Brad Mate: yeah, i get it if you are trying to make the guy really unlikeable...but thats not what it looked like they were trying to do. it was more like filler and was pretty alienating
9:31:49 PM Ben Sliker: i would say more, but you've nailed it.
9:32:17 PM Ben Sliker: like i would care about any of the characters in this
9:32:25 PM Ben Sliker: what were they wanted for?
9:33:06 PM Ben Sliker: hmm, apparently nothing
9:33:08 PM Brad Mate: yeah, i also get vagueries, as we did our fair share in refill, but you have to have enough info so we care about who these people are.

Rogan, I can't say that I was a big fan of this one. And I wanted to like it, cause you're Rogan, and I think you have a great sense of humor. This just didn't connect with me. I can see what you were trying to do with this film. Witty, engaging dialogue, a nice twist ending. I just didn't really care about anything that was going on. I was also conflicted about what the story was about, was it about these people, or was it about the box? I feel unsatisfied about either. I feel like this was a good exercise in direction for you, and in no way should you pigeon hole yourself into making just more TDRP movies, (and for that matter, I won't pigeon hole myself into reviewing this movie based on TDRP) but like I said before, there was a disconnect for us watching it.

Til next time buddy!
