COLD CALLS by John Whalen featuring Blanchard Ryan (OpenWater) & Ben Bailey (CashCab)

Well Naked Lunch and Videodrome are both Cronenberg films of course. So maybe that makes sense.

The poster has a life of its own, lol. It may not be preparing the viewer all that well for the actual film though - just had to get something up. Will rethink it when I can catch my breath. :Drogar-Dum(DBG):

I was excited to see the poster. Man, the phone's dental work sure makes mine look horrible. Is that the lost Hypertongue in there?

Best to you in your film!

my two-cents... sorry it took so long...
let me know what you think!

Awe Man! Awesome job! Thanks so much. That's really so cool!

I wish I could use it ... if only it had the actual title of the movie on it, lol :D :crybaby:

Excellent work. The text at the bottom needed SO badly to be baked onto the phone. All it took was a simple rotation and BAM!

Love the font treatment. So much more effective.
I think you just need to make it plural.

woops... i think i got a little carried away with the distort/warp tools... might have to go back to the source and fix it...

Thanks man!
Tweaked the billing block ... and poster updated on first post as below

Hopefully will have some more filmmaking related posts at some point :)

Honestly, the new style of the title give me a comic feeling. The old style of the title gave me a frozen feeling - more cold! . I prefer the more cold feeling, but I prefer the new layout!

The thing is it's kind of a light yet surreal spoof ... i.e., comedy. So that's probably a good thing.

I mentioned somewhere, buried in the thread, that I'm not so sure the poster is really preparing the audience for the film but just needed to get something up

Planning on having real production photos this time for the first time, so maybe after we shoot
(10/13-10/15) I can incorporate images from the shoot into a wholly new poster, which would be more appropriate for what the film Cold Calls is actually spoofing. This one is like the teaser poster.

too busy BAH! :D

Thanks guys. Been so busy with administrative type filmmaker stuff - synopsis, bios, all that for some upcoming deadlines - haven't spent as much time as I'd like to with Cold Calls. Got all that stuff out of the way, now I can really dig into this project. Good thing as we shoot in 13 days

Found some cool storyborad templats online, it's a photoshop template so you can toggle layers off and on to create different aspect ratios. I'll be using this for Cold Calls most likely.

Those are sweet man. I need to get me some of those books, quickstyle.

Tim.

yeah they're cool cuz you can carry them in your back pocket while you are obsessing over your movie and draw ideas as they come to you.
Then make copies for people you're working with and a back up copy (since things can fall out of your back pocket).

But still carry the original in your back pocket for easy access on set.

Hey man, we were cleaning the shack, which was almost unbearably filthy, and we came across our copy of the Cold Calls script. Man, it read well and with these great actors in mind, it read even more sweetly. John Whalen has gotta be stoked.

I definitely am stoked. The combination of Jack and the cast is just amazing. (I only wish I'd written a part for myself, as Blanchard's boyfriend.... But then again, this is Twilght Fest, not Delusional Fantasy Fest ; )

BTW, Jack, I love the poster, especially with that new font.

John
